Just happened upon this place a month ago while visiting Frisco and I'm so so glad we did, as it's become our new favorite dine-in whenever we're in the area. So far we've tried the chicken fried steak, fried chicken and fried catfish, all of which have been great. My 3 year old loves the creamed corn and mashed potatoes. We love that the meal starts with a salad and warm biscuits, and plenty of butter/honey/syrup to complete it. Each visit has been absolutely pleasant, with wait staff and managers eager to check in and help with questions for first timers. The outside waiting area is a cool place to enjoy a few minutes before or after the meal. Overall, it's a great place for a nice experience and a home-cooked meal.
I get it…y’all get really busy especially on a holiday. But take a little extra time especially for takeout…My pops had a pretty bad stroke a few weeks ago and I thought to do something nice for my mother (on Mother’s Day) since she has been taking care of him - babes is our favorite to dine in and y’all always have great service. I get to the pick up line at the agreed time and a server came up to my car for my name/phone number on the order. He told me that it was for a catfish dinner, and I corrected him since Im here for the fried chicken. He went back inside to check, in case grabbed the wrong order and apparently there was another Keith and they heard Steve on the phone…We laughed about the mix up and he explained to me that they didn’t even ring up the order for ‘Steve’ since they couldn’t hear. Anyway I paid the man + 20% and he brought out the food.I get all the way home and get dad setup to eat to then open a box full of catfish… ?????
Around 14 years ago we were driving out towards Pilot Point and we kept seeing signs for Babe’s, my son was starving and he said if we don’t see a sign to turn in2 minutes I’m going back home. Well thank goodness the next sign had an arrow telling us to turn, and we finally found Babe’s. My female relatives are all amazing cooks and each of them could fry chicken that would win any prize, and I have to say so can Babe’s. I love the green beans, in fact love all of their sides which is what I usually fill up on and just get a to go bag for the chicken which is as good cold as it is hot. That being said, here’s the problem, it’s so good that you can’t wait to tell your friends and family. Don’t do it! The wait time is long enough without your friends showing up! ?
Rustic and charming, this local favorite is the place to go for good home cooking. The menu is simple - Chicken! Your only choice is fried chicken, chicken fried steak, chicken tenders or the only different item - catfish- fried of course. From there everything else included and in endless quantities. The sides are served family style - first salad and hot biscuits with butter and honey. Then with your main meal green beans, corn, mashed potatoes and gravy. Everything is delicious and their very consistent- this being my fourth trip to Frisco and Babes always being on my list of places to visit.Oh and Babes is bring your own liquor so be sure you do! On this visit our server Tyler was great. Quick to bring out our order and on top of refills of drinks and additional sides. If your in Frisco and want good chicken this is your place. Just be sure to come early or be ready to wait. This place is popular!
I loved this experience here. The food is one of a kind flavor and is suuuper great. The atmosphere is very relaxing and encompasses you. For the amount of food they give you in a single serving, it's well worth the money. I don't know what these other few last reviewers are talking about. The waitress was very polite and gave awesome service. By faaar, a top notch dinning experience!! Thank you guys!!! The old firetruck was super cool too and the young ladies are a nice treat.?
I love the place. It has a Texan heritage atmosphere and serves a tasty straight forward chicken menu. The hickory smoked chicken is a must try, the kids love the chicken tenders and the fried chicken steak. Fried chicken is a specialty also but I can skip it to give a chance for the biscuits and creamy corn starters. I would recommend grabbing one of the raw honey jars they sell on your way out. It’s a good go to if you want to impress friends passing by the town.
We went to Babe's for the first time in a while with our extended family. The food was decent, but not great. My chicked fried steak looked huge, but was mostly breading - most bites were just breading. There was tasteless steak about 1/2 the size of the actual entree. The sides were a little overcooked too. At the end of the meal, it came out to about $25 per person, which seemed high for some chicken fingers, a puny chicken friend steak, and some fried chicken + sides. The service was amazing. Our server was friendly and casual, and fun to work with. Our drinks stayed full the whole time. The atmoshpere at Babe's is fun, and it's definitely unique, but I feel like the food quality has gone down and prices have gone up.
We stopped here for lunch after visiting the National Video Game Museum. It’s family style - you pick your meat and share sides of salad, green beans, corn, mashed potatoes/gravy and biscuits. The fried chicken was crispy, meat juicy and delicious! Service was excellent. My only minor complaint was kids’ meals are only for 10 and under. My 12 year old can’t eat half a fried chicken! Thankfully we had a fridge in our hotel room and enjoyed leftover cold chicken the next day. Check hours before going on a weekday. They’re only open till 2pm for lunch during the week and then close until dinner at 5pm.
Went with a group of 5 and had 4 meat dishes. My chicken fried steak looked big on the plate, but the breading covered a piece of tough, tasteless meat about the size of a fast food burger pattie. The chicken tenders were relatively small, more like chicken cubes. They were very good otherwise. My wife's fried catfish and daughter's smoked chicken breast were good, not great. Veggies were very good, served family style. Service was excellent.
Babes is the most incredible Fried Chicken on earth !
