The restaurant has gone downhill since opening back up after Covid. During breakfast time around 9 to noon, a coffee would take at least 40 minutes regardless of ordering ahead of time or dining in. If dining in, you would usually almost finish your food before you get your coffee. I always wonder what’s the restaurant manager is doing and not trying to improve the operations as it’s been going on for a big big while now and I can say this because I am a regular customer and has been going there at least once a week for years since they opened at the Star. The service used to be ok, not great, but tolerable when there used to be wait staff taking your order. It’s such a shame because I like the coffee here better than Starbucks or other coffee shops and the food is decent. I feel bad for the barista because I see how overwhelming the tickets are and the order just keep coming. Such a bad operational management, they have good amount of kitchen staff but not the coffee station.
Outstanding customer service. Ryan was really good. I got latte and my daughter got latte (cold) with lavender and honey. Both of those were goooood.Definitely worth the visit
The coffee tasted legit. I wasn't expecting such robust espresso. The atmosphere was pretty cool. I will say that we were confused why we were given a table number when we had to get our coffee ourselves. We watched the next 5 customers go through the same confusion. The table marker makes it seem like it will be brought to you. Nevertheless, yummy chai and horchata latte!
This is my typical “go to” spot in the mornings when I don’t have breakfast in the mornings. It has excellent food and great beverages. On one rushed morning, I ordered through the app, picked up my order, and took it to work. There were missing pieces to the order and I called to let them know. Melissa not only was kind and empathetic but she quickly fixed the issue and went out of her way to remake it for me the following day. The customer service is incredible and Melissa had excellent and professional attention to detail.
Been to a few of Ascension's locations but this one is the favorite. Wonderful atmosphere inside and out at the Star. Love their Latte. Even the masala chai latte is fantastic. Have tried some of their pastries as well, the craft coffee cake is superb. Love it and will keep going back.
Ordered coffee and a bagel for outdoor dining and received the coffee at the counter and a tag with number 19 for the bagel to be brought out to me. Waited 20 minutes and asked the server where it was. She said she would check. Second server walked by and said she would check. After 40 minutes, when I asked the first server about it, her response was "huh?" So when I said " never mind" she laughed and said okay!. No refund offered. My response is "huh?"
I don't generally have bad things to say about coffee place but here's the thing that I did not like about Ascension Coffee! We reached there about 4 pm this afternoon and ordered two cappuccinos! At 4:15 they gave us coffee in paper cups when everyone around us were drinking in normal cups! When we asked them, they said it's because they are closing at 5pm! Really! Paper Cups!! We were seated! Good thing is to compensate they did give us a coupon after we complained! Coffee was good though.
I love the coffee & food here-but the service was extremely subpar. I ordered a sandwich which was prepared with normal eggs instead of egg whites. When I asked politely for our server (who happened to be the manager) to correct the sandwich-the manager corrected me in a foul way-he even went to the extent of bringing the menu over to show me the description said eggs & not egg whites. Granted, I was not arguing with him in any manner-I apologized for the confusion & simply asked for my sandwich to be remade. He was clearly irritated with my simple request. I waited long enough for my company to finish their sandwich, so I politely got up to let them know just to cancel the order-he then said “thanks, that’s a waste of food”. I’ve worked in the restaurant industry in my youth, food gets sent back all the time-it’s a write off. It’s not like my sandwich was going to be taken from his check. I immediately went to the front & requested a refund, which I would not have done should I have been treated with respect. I have no intent of ever being a Karen, however, I do expect to be treated with a basic level of decency. I recommend the Dallas location over this one, hands down!
Cool place, good prices, tasty food and interesting portions. Only minus - all service is slow. Suggestion: Order food first and after 25 min go and order your drink. If you are lucky both will come together at the same time and your coffee will be hot!
Been a while since I have been here. Superior coffee, staff needs help. Took almost 40 minutes for a chicken sandwich and a reserve pour over. Thats after they brought me two lattes and a meal Ididnt order. May be a staff shortage issue, may just be overworked staff. Not sure but definitely took a hit on the value. Remember to be kind we all struggle sometimes.
