I love coming here. You got high quality food for very good prices. The service is always superb, and I can always count on being served with a smile. I can honestly say that you feel the friendliness from the moment you walk in, to the moment you walk out. Josie is also amazing. She's very attentive and if she's there, she is always checking on you to make sure you're enjoying your food. And let's not forget, the amazing Margaritas! This place will forever have my business! :)
I LOVE Barcenas Mexican Restaurant!! They offer the best quality food and service is top notch! I had the mixed fajitas and it was so delicious! The servers are very attentive and loved our experience there! I give them 5 Stars!! If you are in Houston I Highly recommend you come visit and experience Barcenas! You will not be disappointed!
I’m sad to learn that our FAVORITE waiter is no longer with you. We used to frequent other Mexican food establishments until we were invited to come to your restaurant on Bay Area Blvd with some friends. It was then that we met our waiter. From that day forward we always chose Barcenas. He always greeted with excitement and a smile. he knew what we usually ordered first and brought it to us sometimes as we were sitting down or immediately right after. If we ordered the same food he knew exactly how and what we wanted, if we wanted something different his suggestions were always great. His excitement, customer service, love for his job was what kept us coming back through the door regularly (sometimes more than twice a week) and bringing other friends. We noticed that he treated all of his customers this way and that’s a rare quality to find in an employee these days. Lino is going to be missed by many if not all of his customers. It’s with a heavy heart that we have most likely had out last meal at Barcenas. It’s just not the same. We wish somehow or someway you could get him back. We always looked forward to our visits there. He’s an asset to Barcenas!
The food is good, the place is medium and the service is good as well.So good that we had around 5 or 6 different people asking if we were ok. It didn’t matter that I was just about to take a bite of my plate and there was someone (not my waitress) asking if everything was good. It honestly became so annoying that I think I snapped at some point. A piece of advice for their management: it’s just enough to look at the table to make sure everything is ok without interrupting their customers, i understand they are trying to give a good customer service but I think it was just too much.
Losing faith in this establishment. I get off work late- I usually go directly to the bar area- Lu Lu is a great ..there was a time where I would go 2-3 times a week...& sit at the bar area & enjoy my meal...but it's gotten to the point that I feel very unwelcomed at the time of closing by management. Last Saturday I reluctantly stopped in & thought I'd give it another chance...I was there shortly before 9:30 pm...I was told that their kitchen was closed...I asked the hostess area what time the restaurant actually close...they said 10.00 pm but we close our kitchen at 9:30... that was new news...it's like they happily turn customers away...every time I go regardless of my bill- I'm giving a $15.00 tip- now it's gotten to the point where I'd rather not go because of the way the staff management makes me feel. So last Saturday...after making me feel that way again...I went to Lupe Tortilla where they close at 10 as well, & they happily greeted me, had me seated...& gave outstanding customer service. Didn't make me feel rushed...or unpleasant in any way... It's a shame that I could walk to Barcena's from where I live...and now it's gotten to the point where I have to think long and hard if I want to go in or not...then I'm reminded of my experiences...and decide against it. It's very disappointing.
They have the best Mexican food and great customer service. They give out free mints and bubble gum. You don’t feel like a bother when you ask them to get something. Very relaxed place for a family or a date night.
Go here specifically on weekend mornings for the breakfast. Definitely try the chicken green pozole. It's amazing and taste even better the next day. If you like spicy salsa ask for the spicy green salsa.
My fiancé found this place on a whim and we decided to go for lunch. The minute we walked in we were greeted warmly and seated immediately. Our server was super attentive and friendly. We ordered margaritas and they were delicious (and cheap)! We had nachos for our appetizer and we both ordered from the lunch menu. The food was hot, fresh, and sooooo good. Definitely a hidden gem. I can’t wait to go back!
The service was great however the food was not.It food wasn’t great and overpriced, I originally wanted cheese enchiladas but I wasn’t going to pay $15 for tortillas with cheese (it does come with rice and beans however still not worth it) so I got the burrito instead to at least make it worth paying over $15 for a meal. Kids quesadilla were $7, I usually make quesadillas at home a pack of tortillas $3 and a pack of cheese $4 will make a whole family quesadillas so no I decided not to get the 1 $7 kids quesadilla I’m just saying how overpriced it is and how that isn’t worth it.My burrito was ok I ate half but I think it could have been better than just ok I was really was hoping for something better tasting it was kinda bland nothing special. My husband had 3 tacos he only ate half of 1 and immediately felt sick to his stomach when we got home he was ill and woke up with a terrible stomach ache so I’m glad he didn’t eat the rest.My kids got chicken tenders and goodness the chicken looked odd and grayish instead of white. Once my son seen the chicken he decided not to eat I encouraged him to eat his fries but after he seen the chicken he decided he was done with it all and didn’t have not one bite.My other son tried the chicken after a couple bites he said it tasted weird so he didn’t eat much of his.We did not request for management nor did we complain we decided to pay our $70 bill and go on.Yes $70 for 3 terrible tacos, a burrito, and 2 kids meals. We wanted to love it we really did especially after seeing all the great reviews. Cleanliness was not great as well, we sat next to a mirror on the wall which looked dirty and crumbs on the floor my family and I were not impressed we will not be going back to this establishment.
Always great food. Their staff is great as well. I have been coming here for 20 years still as good as the first time. Best memories I have are there with my family and friends. We use to sit up stairs , and eat every Sunday eating menudo best hangover cure, oh the younger days way before COVID.
