I went with a group of girlfriends. We had fairly large group so I would expect service to be a little slower. But since they had a fixed menu, four appetizers and four main courses, two hours was waaay to long to wait for the first dishes to hit the table. Being the foodie that I am, when my friends said their hummus was salty (it was actually baba ganoush but whatevs) I asked to taste it. It was extremely salty. When I told our server she took it back to tell the chef. He told her to tell me it was probably because I was drinking soda. ? Well we all aren't so explain that. ANYWAY... My beef and polenta dish was nice. But what I really wanted was the creme brulee. I was really hoping for a nice crisp top. But when it came out it seems like they realized the caramelized sugar had liquefied and attempted harden it again. But all they did was scorch it. It was bitter and inedible. The likelihood of me ever being in Fredericksburg, TX ever again is pretty slim. But if I am I certainly won't eat here.
Loved the atmosphere of the Bistro and decor!! Food was wonderful, large plates that could have easily been split between two people and desserts were amazing. This was my absolute favorite place to dine in all of Fredericksburg!! The gift shop upstairs is incredible with wonderful finds and a MUST to visit regardless if you don't plan on dining. Can't wait to come back!!
My husband and I visited Fredericksburg for a quick overnight. His coworker highly recommended Vaudeville for dinner. We ended up going for brunch the next day and are so glad we did! The restaurant is easy to find, right on E. Main Street. Parking can be challenging in Fredericksburg, but we found a spot on a side street after just a bit of searching. When you walk in the door you are actually in the Boutique. It was fun looking around; it had a lot of really top-quality and unique items. We went downstairs to the Bistro to put our name in. We were originally told 40 minutes, so we headed out to browse a few shops next door. I noticed that some people chose to get a drink from the bar and hang out in the front of the store to wait. Not a bad option! We weren't gone more than 15 minutes when we received the text that our table was ready. I ordered a glass of Blanc de Blanc, while my husband uncharacteristically declined a drink. The menu isn't huge, thank goodness! Just really well-curated items made of awesome ingredients. It was Sunday, so the special was fried chicken, and it looked as though a lot of people were taking advantage of that! Not much for fried chicken, I ordered the quiche of the day, which was lump crabmeat and asparagus. When it came out it was an individual quiche with a crust of phyllo dough. Or puff pastry? I get them confused. Anyway, it was amazing! when they said "lump crab," they weren't kidding. It was chock full of crab, asparagus, and eggy goodness. It came with a side of roasted asparagus and dressed spring mix. I was considering ordering a second quiche, no kidding. My husband got the French dip sandwich. I decline trying it because the meat was a bit rare for my taste, but he said it was "outstanding." Our server (Josh, maybe?) was on point. The place was busy, but everything was running very efficiently. We are planning to return to Fredericksburg in the future, and Vaudeville will be on the list.
Once again we visited our favorite Restaurant and Bistro in Fredericksburg with a group of friends. We love the fact that Vaudeville will take reservations for groups of 5 or more. It can be very hard to find restaurants localluly that accept reservations for large parties and Vaudeville is definitely one of them. Their hostess Regina is fantastic and we have had nothing but great experiences with her and their team. Not only is she responsive she typically has called verify our numbers and is well prepared for our arrival. On this day our server was Amy and I give her my highest recommendation for your group. She did a superb job taking care of our bi-lingual group and easily transitioned from English to Spanish during our lunch service. The food…. as always superb, this time we started with their Beef Carpaccio ($20) which was incredible and one of the only restaurants that offers this superb appetizer. Typically you have to have to go way upscale to find it on a menu. We love their soup du jour and had a bowl of their Chicken Tortilla Soup ($12) , we order a bowl and split it. My wife’s go to here is their Braised Pork Belly Taco (19), she is from Veracruz, Mexico and says they are the best Tacos de Pancheta de Cerdo you can kind find in Texas! I went with their Sunday Special the Buttermilk Fried Chicken ($21) which its outstanding, they plate an incredible sauted collard greens as a side that makes me contemplate going Vegan! If you are in the Fredericksburg area and love fantastic food and unmatched service, in a gorgeous bistro this has to be #1 on your list of restaurants.
Nice bistro in the basement of a shop. The food was superb. There are daily specials, ours was the buttermilk fried chicken. So tasty! Other great choices are the quiche, the club sandwich and the french dip. There is a bakery that makes fantastic cookies. There is an solid wine list. Our server was prompt, attentive and did a wonderful job. On the weekends I would suggest reservations as it gets quite busy.
Had a wonderful meal with business associates! The best curry I've ever had! Joseph, our server, was terrific and super attentive. Will return!
The service was very good. Prompt and courteous. The food is delicious and the presentation was lovely. This place is a little more formal and little higher priced than some others in Fredericksburg, hence my title "for a special occasion". It has a lovely intimate atmosphere and we enjoyed the experience. Fair warning - the bistro is in the basement. There is seating outside the building where diners can eat al fresco but if you intend to eat inside, you will have to navigate stairs.
Great atmosphere although very dark. Great location. We were confused at first because it is a store above the restaurant and they did not answer the phones. The bistro is in the basement. We would try this place again but our experience was not great.
We loved this place. Came here for lunch over the July 4th weekend. Ordered some fantastic wine and a Beleni. Yum!!! My partner order a club and I ordered the soup. Both were outstanding! I think that was the best club sandwich I have ever eaten. To top it all off our waitress Sealy was just fantastic. Friendly, attentive and prompt. Atmosphere was very romantic too. Decor was so well done! We left two very satisfied customers!
