The food wasn't too bad.....could have been better for the price but apparently this restaurant is in an old hospital morgue and I thought that was so cool. The peach bellini and spinach dip were good. The lemon caper butter sauce in my fettuccine noodles had no flavor.
We wantes to stop and try something new.The food was beyond amazing. We all tried something different from the German menu it was all fantastic. Our waitress Amilia was super sweet explained each dish to us. Was very kind. The service was absolutely top notch. Food arrived very quickly.
Nice atmosphere , good food. Cool it used to be a morgue! I had German food once before and did think it was slightly better , but this was still very good! But the peach bread pudding was amazing !!
Jeager schnitzel I went with a friend to Fredericksburg to visit the Nimitz’s Museum. So, before entering the museum, we had lunch at the Rathskeller, located in the basement of a building across the street from the museum. But, what’s in a name? Rathskeller implies being in a basement. We had the Jeager schnitzel, hot potato salad, and red pickled beets. Good German food and good service.
We're not German food enthusiasts. Swiss cheese, mushroom burger fabulous. Not many restaurants open on Wednesday so I think our waitress was stressed, coming across gruff initially. Service timely. When it was apparent the crowd rush died down, she became more friendly. In a cellar, so might be difficult for those with mobility issues. They were able to accommodate large groups in back room, (6-10?)
I thought the food was solid. I was surprised they didn’t have higher ratings. Definitely recommend the bacon wrapped filet, the sausage plate is alright. But the cheddar mashed potato and green beans were phenomenal…like WOW. And the staff were cheerful and kind despite being super busy
Perfect experience - simple and rustic ambience with helpful staff, paid attention to details about the food and the salads we ordered were amazing and fresh, chicken cooked to perfection.Would surely recommend this place.
Rathskeller does not disappoint on the food whatsoever, but it is the setting and ambiance that makes it a one-of-a-kind experience in an already story-rich, historic setting! The Rathskeller is located in the basement morgue of the old Keidel Hospital which was built in the 1800’s.The Jaeger Schnitzel was prepared to perfection. The Peach Bread Pudding is one of the best kept secrets in all of Fredericksburg! This desert alone is worth the descent into The Rathskeller!
This place is amazing. Best food In Fredericksburg! Reyna made us feel right at home. Will be back to try breakfast tomorrow.
This place was amazing! The menu was really nice with variety and a touch of upscale but with a relaxed look and great prices. Only 2 gentleman doing all the cooking and their attention to detail on each dish was impressive. Came with 3 other people and we each had a different dish. Everything was delicious, even the sides and dessert!! So rare these days to find a restaurant that does everything good and the staff was all really nice. Absolutely recommend this restaurant to anyone and everyone. ?
