Excellent dining experience! My wife was not too hungry so we shared a Flammkuchen appetizer, which in our opinion could have used a wee bit less arugula, but was great with layers of flavor that surprised me in an appetizer as seemingly simple as this one. For our main entree we had the Grilled Antelope, which was not gamey at all, perhaps because of the red wine demi glaze, on contraire, it was delicate yet bold. It is obvious to me that the chef can masterfully develop and layer flavors in his dishes. For dessert we had the Shokoriegel chocolate cake which was a deep incursion into a world of velvety chocolate, again with layers of flavors and textures. We also had two cocktails, the A Horse With No Name and the Brunhilde, both firm and assertive, definitely not sugar bombs, but rather drinks with character. Again, layers come to mind. Highly recommendable. We'll definitely go back when we visit Fredericksburg, hopefully sooner than later.

Excellent service, delicious and unique menu! It’s a bit pricy, however you are paying for quality and a beautiful dining experience. Definitely check it out!

So this place is the best. My wife and I went and it changed my world. Words fail to describe how the food changed me. This isn’t a joking review. I wonder what else in life I’ve missed out on. With tip my wife and I spent almost $200 and I don’t care. Im from South Texas/Louisiana so I’ve had great food my whole life. But honestly the meal was life changing. The duck schnitzel and Antelope is what we had. The cheese cake destroyed me. I’m different leaving than arriving.

I first sent this to the owner by email twice but he never responded. I went to your restaurant on a Friday and we ordered your steak. It was way overcooked, which shouldn’t happen in fine restaurant dining. But it did. They verified it was way overcooked, and he took it back. My daughter had completely finished her whole meal and we still had not received the steak. I realize you were busy, or it looked like all your tables were filled. However, when someone returns a steak that would take maybe 5 minutes to cook, why make that person wait 20-25 minutes while everyone else at the table is completely finished. When I did the steak back, it was cooked medium rare, but had obviously been sitting there. And it tasted like it had no seasoning, where the first one did. This was a special occasion for my daughter. And because of that wee just packaged it up and left. That steak was $58! We had several drinks waiting. And the waiter said he would comp my first drink. Even though that was nice, I should have just left the steak there. It never was eaten. My daughter took a bite when we got back to the hotel and she said it was like tasteless meat and it did. I spent $186 at your restaurant. Because of course we tipped appropriately even though I am unsure who was at fault I wasn’t going to ruin my daughter’s special evening. Debra Walker

Hands down some of the best German food I’ve had. It is elevated a bit so keep that in mind. The duck schnitzel was unbelievable! You must try this! We got it with the duck egg on top. Every part of this dish was amazing. We also got the wurst plate. The best one in Fredericksburg for sure. Make a reservation, because this place gets full, and for good reason.

Otto’s is amazing! Everything is very fresh and flavorful. I personally think that it is the best restaurant I have been to in Fredericksburg and I can’t wait to go back. Our waiter ( I believe his name was John ) was very nice and had great suggestions. He was very knowledgeable of the menu. You pay for what you get, great quality food and service.

Our waitress was not very friendly. Food was okay. My Jägerschnitzel was good, but not very traditional. Overall it was hot in the restaurant, and the lack luster service from the waitress made it a three star experience.

Not sure why they changed the one dish people come here for, the duck schnitzel! We were told got have a new chef. Well, he put his spin on their signature dish but over frying all the taste out of it. Very sorry to report we won’t be back. Only reason I gave it two star was the service and friendly staff.

Delicious! We love trying different places around Fredericksburg and this was definitely a favorite. We had the beef tenderloin and the wurst plate. Both were excellent! We will most definitely be back!

First and foremost, the menu does not lend itself to what I have experienced in fine dining, and I have lived in Italy, Germany, Las Vegas, and have traveled to other such places noted for their cuisine. We had the pork schnitzel and duck schnitzel. Both were very thin and overcooked and the spätzle was mushy. I’ve enjoyed better schnitzel from an imbiss. Even if the food was done properly, it is still not fine dining. For those who have never been to Germany or a proper German restaurant, my take is Otto’s food is not a good representation of German food. Second, the décor/ambience is more of a Texas Hill Country meets German gasthaus, which is appropriate considering the location and the menu. Again, not fine dining and not worthy of fine dining pricing. This is the first “terrible” review I’ve ever done, but I would be remiss if I did not post.
