Outstanding wines. Good food and atmosphere. Highly recommend the Sparkling Almond and the Cabernet Sauvignon Private Reserve. Very Casual atmosphere.
We came in to Messina Hof, our Harvest Host, where we were able to quickly set up our RV and great in for some wine. Aly and Claudia were the kindest, most attentive, and knowledgeable wine slingers in the west. Ended up with 6 bottles. My favorite: Paolo Temperanillo. Sooo good! The next day as we were leaving, we lovely asked Ann if we could refill our fresh water tank and she was so sweet to let us before we got back on the road. Thank you, Ann! Ultimately great staff, friendly service, and fantastic wine! Will definitely be back!
The establishment was beautiful to look at but the service wasn't great. Don't get me started on the flies to which I was informed it was a normal occurrence; I'm guessing it was the sticky chairs. I also wanted a little more information on the wines and all I got was the written description on the menu which I could have read on my own. I also noticed that the service got better after tipping the servers every time I tried a new wine which wasn't surprising, the wine was great.
The Messina Hof Winery is situated 10 miles east of Fredericksburg on Highway 290. The first Messina Hof Winery goes back to 1977 and is located in Bryan, whereas this winery in Fredericksburg was opened in 2011. The tasting room is nice and the staff very friendly and knowledgeable. We very much enjoyed our visit and would love to come back.
Visited three of the top wineries in Fredericksburg area and hands down Missina Hof was the very best. One only sold wine from Oregon the second that was reviewed to be the best needed to teach their staff how to welcome the public. "SO RUDE". Since we weren't CLUB members we were invisible. Then we went to Messina Hof, very welcoming, extremely knowledgeable staff, with a wonderful atmosphere. The wines were excellent and a great value. Will always be on our travel route in Hill County, plus convenient to stock up in Dallas area at Grapevine TX.
Good wine selection. We did the premium tasting. Most of the staff was fairly unfriendly. However one younger girl was really nice. Decent pours for the tasting.
So disappointed!!! We LOVE the Bryan location but we’re so disappointed in Fredericksburg. Staff was rude. We got there at 5:10 and were denied any food selections. When we asked why, the answer was “we close at 6:00”!!!!! They were cleaning and restocking and ignoring us 45 minutes BEFORE closing. Very rude. We won’t go back.
One of our favorite ?. Their ports are exquisite. So smooth and delicious. Staff very courtesy and helpful. A must stop and taste place
My family and I spent part of our Saturday afternoon here, and it was a pleasant experience.Upon walking in during our reserved wine tasting time, we were promptly seated at our table. This particular winery works on tokens and you place a token at the counter upon ordering your drinks. This winery was a bit less personal compared to surrounding places in that each wine description is all written on their menus at the table versus having someone educate you.We did partake on their food, and their spinach and artichoke dip was amazing! It came out piping hot and was super cheesy. It definitely hit the spot before our dinner reservations later on.We ended up not purchasing any bottles this visit, but we could always visit their branch in Richmond, Texas next time we're in need of a fix.
We had a wine tasting and one of their wonderful chocolate plates. We were extremely pleased with the service and selection. We are planning a trip to the vineyard. Looking forward to the five course dinner and wine paring!
