What a discovery! Found this place on accident and glad we did. Off the beaten path but do yourself a favor and stop by. Great burgers! Homemade, hand battered onion rings. To die for! I can't list all the quirky things that make this place, but so glad we stopped. They offer daily featured burgers like what I had. Pimento cheese bacon burger, OMG!!! So good. Sit outside and enjoy some music, and or a cold one. Everyone there was so welcoming. They cook in the middle of the house, (yes, house) and in plane sight. You can say hi or thank the cook. I did! Again, off the beaten path but make an afternoon or evening out of it. We found it after visiting Fredericksburg, topped off a great tourist day. Enjoy.
The garlic and goat cheese was awesome. Bought some of the pork rinds to use instead of bread. Also, burgers are the best we have had in quite some time. And live music on a hot Texas afternoon was awesome!
Some places DO live up to the hype and this place is one of them. Onion rings were incredible and my Pimento Cheese and Bacon burger was one of the best burgers I have ever had. Friendly staff, comfortable ambiance. Worth the trip.
I was expecting something really good. I had a cheeseburger with a few extra toppings, fries and onion rings. It was just an average burger and didn't have much flavor. The onion rings and fries were both too hard. The worst part was it cost over $24! I won't be going back and can't recommend this place.
Excellent as usual. Have some of the best burgers you can find and made to order. You order outside and pay them go in and get your drinks and wait on staff to bring you one heck of a great burger. Will be back
While driving in the middle of nowhere to our rental lodging in a Texas Hill Country cabin, we came across a sign that said, “Best Burgers in Texas!” Well, we knew there was more than a bit of hyperbole in the sign, but the burgers were pretty darn good. I had a half-pound burger with grilled onions and blue cheese crumbles. Most “Blue Burgers” show up a bit short on blue cheese crumbles, but the Alamo Springs version contained a very satisfying amount of the cheese. The stuffed Fried Avocado my wife and shared was unique and quite good. The staff was friendly, especially our very informative and loquacious waiter. He was a font of varied interesting information. There are no pretenses with Alamo Springs Café, and none are needed: neat place.
What a great hidden gem. Just as you think there can’t possibly be something out in the boonies you find Alamo nestled into the trees offering an amazing outdoor lounging area with plenty of shade as well plenty of seating in the AC inside the main restaurant. It’s casual, it’s comfortable, and the live music just makes you feel at home among friends. The burgers were great, the staff super friendly, and this was just an overall great stop. Can’t wait to come back!
Very organized. Can tell they are used to dealing with crowds. Friendly service. Best burger maybe for the options in buns and cheeses. Otherwise a good standard burger, extra thick patty. Onion rings are good. Mostly outdoor seating generally shady.
We were staying at the Walnut Canyon Cabins and were looking for good dinner options. We found this place only 5 minutes from where we were staying. They say they have the burgers in town. I would just say they have the best burgers. Period. I had the hamburger with lettuce, onion, tomato, pickles, and bacon. The meat was the freshest I've had, and the patty was a pretty good size. I love burgers and I have eaten plenty of them, some good, some bad, but this was by far the best I've ever had. Just amazing. Also they had a country singer performing some songs. Perfect soundtrack to a good Texas dinner. If I lived in the area, I'd be there every weekend.
Friendly staff, a relaxed atmosphere, and excellent food. We had a burger (sourdough bun, goat cheese, grilled onions, bacon), onion rings, and fried portobello mushrooms. Tons of food and plenty to share (and take home). We topped it off with a slice of buttermilk pie, which was really good, too.People said not to miss stopping here while in the area and we're so glad we listened to them. Go see the bat cave at Old Tunnel State Park and then grab "the best burger in Texas!"
