I got a Texas Size St Louis Rib Plate and it was so good and I brought half home. The bread served was so soft and tasty we ate it all. The smoked turkey was moist and tasty too. The cole slaw was not the greatest but the spicy beans were great. Over all we found it to be a delightful dinner out for us.
Food was Delicious! Service was beyond spectacular! Had the 3 meat plate. Ribs, brisket, and sausage. Seems like each meal comes with corn on the cob as well, which was really good.We will definitely be back again.
I've been to this establishment twice, first time was a "decent" experience but I believe in giving places more than one shot so the 2nd time I bring my entire family. I ordered a rack of ribs with a side of mac & cheese and coleslaw. Food was barely warm at best except the fries which were hot. When I asked my server to exchange my meal for something else, I saw her take it back to the hot plate / heat lights line where they placed my mac & cheese side (which I already tasted) back under the heat lights and another server grab it and place it on another tray to be served to a different table. When I told our server what I observed, she told me she would tell the manager but she never confirmed back telling the manager nor the manager came by to ask me any questions or apologize for the quality of the food. Disappointing as my son really likes BBQ and the quality was just sub par.
The restaurant was very clean, our waitress was outstanding, the ambiance was terrific!! I felt like it was a decor mashup of Hacienda Ranchero and the Black Bear Diner. The food was very good, very tasty. I had the half a chicken, and my wife had the chopped potato. Her spud was huge but my chicken wasn’t the biggest I ever had. It was Kinda small actually, but delicious. We gave SOBbq 4 stars primarily because while the baked potato was huge, the meat portion on it was skimpy. It should’ve been the opposite. I’d go again. It was good enough to warrant another visit. Kinda pricy (I know good bbq is expensive) but after tip it was over $36 for 2 for lunch.
The complimentary bread was delicious! The pulled pork was good as well. Service was great and fast considering the place was fairly busy during dinner hours. My server was friendly and attentive as well. Overall good experience from a first time visitor.
Came in late for a business trip. Wanted to redeem the last bbq I had in the north east. Shady Oak really came through!! Everything was true Texas amazing bbq! Had fall off the bone ribs, started with the bacon ends. It was all great from start to finish especially the cinnamon apples! Joel was a great server and made the experience even better. Was in and served all of my hot tasty bbq in under 20 minutes! Might try to stop back before I leave.
This is my favorite bbq place in Fort Worth; it is honestly a hidden gem!! I've been a long-time customer here from coming here as a child with my family to now being an adult! My go-to meal is the 3 meat combo with turkey brisket and St. Louis ribs. The turkey and ribs are the best that I've had !!
My first visit in a couple years and all I can say is what happened. Take the peppercorn away from the cooks!! I love pepper but everything was OVER THE TOP peppered. Onion rings, peppered!? Even the sliced beef was just WAY to much pepper. It was gross. I have always loved your bbq and this was my first visit back in a couple years and sadly, my last.
I've had good experiences with Shady Oak when we dine in, and the food usually tastes great, but we primarily have ordered for pick up over the past 2 years. Not too long ago I swore I'd never order for pick up from here again, as they ALWAYS forget to put something in the order. Sometimes I catch it before I leave, sometimes I find out when we get home, but it literally is every time I've ordered from them outside of once.Tonight they forgot multiple items, which I guess was my mistake for not opening every box in the bag to thoroughly check. It was enough that when I got home, I decided I had to turn around and went back to the restaurant and had to wait for them to fix the order. They just don't care, and that is crystal clear to me after all these times. It's a shame because they food really is good most of the timeSo now, I really won't be going back again. Just too many bad experiences and no indication that they even feel bad about it.
Meh. Honestly not super impressed with this place. I’m surprised it has such great reviews. The service was good and food came out fast. For $75.00 the food left something to be desired, however. I had brisket and ribs with mac and cheese and fries. The mac and cheese was actually terrible, it was cold and tasteless…like rubber. The ribs were nothing to write home about, they tasted like hot dogs to me…the bacon burnt ends were good and so were the fried pickles.French fries were normal.Everything was really bland, the sauce was also really sweet…not a fan. I love a more savory or spicy bbq sauce. All in all will probably not come back here only because there are much better barbecue options in the area. We tried to go to Texas Pit BBQ first, but they were closed.
