service was horrible and rude
The hostess Donna is lovely. She is happy and upbeat and makes you feel at home. The food was delicious and the restaurant is extremely clean. It was just remodeled. We will definitely be back.
Well I was very disappointed I drove all the way out here because online it shows it’s opened I tried calling the phone rings but nobody answers and they are actually closed And the sign says now hiring opening March 3
Ate into a piece of chicken it was bloody raw informed the waitresses and they took my plate with no response not the proper handling the situation in my book couldn’t enjoy the rest of my meal and still had to pay full price
So I had my family with me today stopped in website says open and get there its closed until the 29th mind you I live about 40 min away. I called before heading there someone picked up then hung up on me so I thought just go they'll be open nope it just pretty much started my day off wrong so I'm leaving one star and if I go back and actually get a chance to eat there I'll hopefully give a better review.
A review from Nov. 2020 was posted about racist servers. I was in the restaurant when that customer was there. The restaurant was packed with some white customers but several Latino and black customers. Everyone waited for service because there was only 1 server. The customer complaining waited about 15 min. then approached the waitress while she was checking someone out and said you didn’t wait on us because were black. This waitress was waiting on 25+ customers, sitting taking orders cashiering. Every single customer in restaurant waited to be served. I myself wait 30 min to order and an additional 35 min for the food. This restaurant normally serves quickly and great food. It seems some people make everything racist because the establishment is so far from being a white only establishment that the review if you walked into the restaurant anytime would make you laugh. Try this place and ignore the racist Karen’s of the world.
Went there on Christmas Day and the buffet was fantastic. Lots of traditional local comfort food. Everything tasted fresh, homemade, and delicious. The service was attentive. Could not have been more pleased with this Christmas Day offering. Hardworking people making their customers feel satisfied and welcome.

Hidden gem 5 minutes from Historic Stockyards and Saginaw on North Main off 820 Main St exit. Fresh locally grown veggies and meat. Daily breakfast and lunch buffet or a la carte! Enjoyed the homemade meatloaf and steamed sweet potatoes.
Exterior looks nicer, name might have changed, but it's still same old "Colonial" I was introduced to all these years ago. If you like comfort food, their menu is extensive. But why bother when there is daily buffet... This is a reason why place is full during lunch hour. Blue collar people know great food and value. Add breakfast spread on weekends... Anyway: Dear Heavens Gate, please don't change. Stay heavenly.
