I'm not sure about the stew side(pork gravy over rice)... maybe not my thing. Otherwise, everything was really good. The brisket was some of the juiciest melt in your mouth brisket I've had. It reminded me a lot of pork belly the way it melted. The cheesy grits were really good too... Everything was good.
Definitely pleased and down to visit again in the future! First off, the sausage and the pork ribs were the winners for me. So juicy and flavorful - actual perfection. And you can tell someone put some love and thought into making that sausage! Brisket is always a tough one. The small bits were moist and delicious, but the big pieces were thick and dry. I took one bite and went back to my ribs. I rarely feel like I've had good brisket though so who knows.I also enjoyed the sides (we tried the grits, beans, kennedale stew, and potato salad), but all of em (except the potato salad) could use a lot less salt. Flavors were so good but I couldn't eat as much as I wanted because of the saltiness! Great bread pudding, decent banana pudding (I always doc when there aren't any bananas in it). Most of all EXCELLENT customer service. Everyone was very kind, the line moved like a well oiled machine, and it was an awesome experience all around. Very pleased and definitely going back.
Goldees is rated 24th if bbq on trip advisor, yet it's the #1 rated bbq in all of Texas....the other bbq restaurants are trash compared to goldees, where do these surveys come from.....if you want the best and real texas bbq this is it, heaven of bbq.....
Simply amazing barbecue! Cannot be beat!!
I was in the area with my wife. She had her own event (reason for trip) so I had downtime. I am so happy I was told about Goldee’s by a friend back home. Off I went! I rolled in around 0830, and was the first there. That’s never happened before! I started to take a quick look around and one of the pit masters called me over to the cook area. Jayden was so polite and approachable and put me at ease. He showed me their pits. Those include two 1000 gallon tanks converted into smokers. Oh and he lifted a lid and showed me about 15 briskets that were early on in the process. Being a BBQ guy myself, I showed him pics of my stick burner and things I’ve smoked. True BBQ people appreciate one another. This was the case. After a bit more nosing around, I went to the front of the now one man line. I grabbed a couple of complementary waters and a lawn chair out of the stack and got ready for 1100 when they open. I had sat for a few minutes when Johnny, one of the owners came over. We had a great conversation about all things BBQ and what got me here from Indiana. Johnny was genuine and just a damn nice guy and talked with me like we were friends. A short while later other patrons showed and lined up. And we all talked like long lost friends. Got a few other recommendations (filed away for the next trip, after a return here of course!). Before opening there were easily 175-200 people waiting. Get here early! There is a restroom inside you can use before service starts if needed Doors opened at 11. I got brisket, turkey, sausage, cheesy grits and the Kennedale stew. Well, here we go. As stated, the best brisket I have ever had. And I’ve had a lot from all around the country. Hands down, no contest the best. Period. The turkey was fabulous. Great seasoning, not overly smoked and moist! The sausage was great as well. The cheesy grits were good, better with some of the Goldee’s BBQ sauce on it. The stew is a pork gravy over rice. Oh hell! Porky goodness here! There is a reason this is the top rated BBQ joint according to Texas Monthly. This is done right, quality BBQ by amazing awesome genuinely friendly people. I will say everything they do will be equally as good based on what I had. I will be back!
Wow, worth every dollar I spent! Beef Ribs were like butter, sausage had great flavor and snap, brisket had a wonderful bark that was out of this world! But the best thing on the menu was the bread pudding!Worth every minute of the forty-five minute wait in line and they had free bottle water while I waited in line.
Everything is great. You will not be disappointed!! FYI stuff: 1- sauce is strong vinegar based. Good if you like that style. 2) cheesy grits. Little spice. Jalapeño? 3) potato salad has slight bite of black pepper. 4) coleslaw if good.Ordered sausage, brisket, pork ribs, turkey and chopped brisket. All of it is cooked perfect. All the food is delicious. Worth the drive and the price. Lines started at 5am and we arrived at 10 and there were 15 people waiting. Line stared forming up about 10-10:15 moved quickly. We were 24th person. Took 15 minutes to get through the wait and order
A great way to start off your weekend!! The food was delicious everything is made from scratch and you can really taste the love that goes into everything.
Great atmosphere, wonderful and friendly staff. Best barbecue I’ve found yet! Definitely worth the wait!
I have hit 45 of the Texas Monthly Top-50 BBQ spots this year and easily the best. It IS worth the wait. Just bring a chair (if early) or an umbrella (if late). The ribs, brisket and sausage were all the best I've had. Easily the best. Treat yourself and try this place out.
