Everything was on-par on this visit; soup was rich, cheese was plentiful, fries were crisp, tacos were crunchy, service was quick, and the dining area was clean & not full. You've gotta try soaking or dipping your fries in the sauce & cheese when your tacos are done - delicious!
So it looks like this place is a tradition and has sentimental value for people who grew up here or live here. I get it ....but also kind of don't.I don't like to be mean but....The food is ... Let's say very weird tex Mex.The rolled tacos in pretty much salty water. Frozen fries? The salsa tastes like plastic.Great service though! And the place has it's own charm. Something that I think they have been able to maintain for a long time. That is hard to do.I mean I'll support it because it's nostalgia for so many! But this is not food. But hey... You are in El Paso, why not just drop in? Please have a back up plan after that.
Beef stew burrito was like 80% potatoes. No refill on drinks. Food did come out fast and was hot!

If you want some delicious Chicos Tacos.. come to this location! This location and the one near Washington Park are the only good ones nowadays. The food was definitely hot, the drinks were cold. Expect a line when you’re ready to order but it’s all worth it! Your food is served fairly quickly unless you order a burger/hotdog.
Food was great but the Cashier lady was very rude and unfriendly to pretty much everyone who walked in. She was impatient and there was not alot of people in there.Food was super good though
Didn’t want to leave a bad review,been coming here for decades, went in today and the line was not moving because they stoppped taking orders completely while everyone stood in line and just stared at them.people started leaving from standing in line and no one helping them. Place needs more staff,renovating and a good cleaning.also you don’t need 2 security guards just standing there looking at people, it’s a waste of cash and uninviting. Hope the owner or manager sees this
Sandwich was cold and the order was wrong. It should been a large hamburger but it was a small. They said they would put in another small. And when it got there they charged us. When I ask the manager he enforced me that was the rules. I informed that I would not be back. Bad Management!

I read a suggestion to get a grilled cheese to dip it in the tomato soup that comes with the rolled tacos. Great idea, but don't expect the most gourmet of grilled cheeses. Chico's was actually tastier than the last time I had it, maybe my expectations were a bit more realistic. They do need to hire a bit more staff to revive to refocus on cleanliness though.
