First time there. Wasn't sure how long of a wait it would be, as parking lot was almost full. However, they had a table for 8 and got right in. As I parked the car, I noticed at least TX Highway Patrol vehicles...I figured if they eat here, then it must be good. The server kept us in coffee/water, and got our order out as soon as kitchen was ready.Pull in the lot...park...and have a great breakfast.
Upon entering the establishment it looks kind of dark inside but then you are welcomed to a cozy dining area. We were surprised to see how busy this place was. Patrons kept coming in during the time we were there. So we figured they must be doing something good here. Once our server came by he brought us some homemade chips & Salsa, which were so good we couldn't stop eating them. We ordered the Beef Fajita Quesadillas which came with a side salad, and the Tampiqueña which came with sizzling beef fajitas, two cheese enchiladas, one crispy beef tacos, spanish rice, refried beans, side salad, and choice of tortillas. I opted for the flour tortillas which were good in flavor but a little to thick gor my liking. I will say the food was nice & hot when served, had alot of flavor, and the service is great. The only disappointment to me was that a table in front of us had a gentleman, who decided to take off his shoes and eat barefooted. I don't know if anyone else noted this but not a good date to see when your eating.
Service and food was amazing! Will continue coming here homemade corn and flour tortillas that's a big plus! I had a bistac ranchero and have to say it was delicious ?!
Our waitress was very friendly but the food was disgusting. They served little scraps of fajita for a Sombrero plate... tried covering it up with lots of cheese, onion and bell peppers. We were a party of 4 and 2 plates were not touched. The best part was we asked for change to leave a tip and the manager at the register said he didn't have change?♀️ we went to the store down the street to get change for our waitress. It was our first and last time there.
This is my husband's favorite little getaway after dropping off the kids. Coffee is always fresh, staff is always polite, and it's family owned. I love the pork chop with over medium eggs and potatoes. Yummy.
If you want food authentic Mexican food then this is definitely the place to go. I went for breakfast and the variety was incredible and I absolutely love their barbacoa. It was flavorful without too much grease and the beans tasted so good. The menudo isn't that great, but I only even eat my mother's. That being said, the salsa isn't spicy at all.
A mark a star just because you have to give at least one.Orden to take out, rice was served in a burger bag, no utensils to eat, no a good night. I didn’t tasted the food. Limonade was good.
This place is a hit or miss. One day it's good and one day it sux. We always ask for extra rice as we don't eat beans made with pork, and it always seems that they never honor that. They add salad. Which i don't want. The server seemed annoyed of having to go ask for the extra rice. But hey, I'm paying same price but getting one less side, not cool. But why they get a one star is not the salty food or bad service. It's the guy at the register. My wife paid while he's on the phone like we're just nobodies. He never asked how the food or service was and why? Because they don't CARE. They have regulars which we were one. But not anymore. Moonlight Cafe has been eclipsed by Antojitos Mexicanos. Friendly people who care. I hope Moonlight closes down for good, don't need a place like that here.
Ordered some panchos to go and got very little amount of food for the price paid and messed up my kids enchiladas order. Food was decent
Waitress was awesome, but large bowl of menudo was small I'd hate to see what a small bowl looks like.. it was mainly soup.. I could see if it was a cheap price but for $12 it should of been well served..
