I can't express to you enough how wonderful the sushi is here. I selfishly doesn't want to share this with you because then I will have a wait at the bar to eat. This little hidden gem in Denton deserves the accolades and the family deserves our support. You will meet his family working hard and greeting you with a smile. When you first walk into a Japanese sushi restaurant, you are greeted with the expression "irasshaimase" meaning "welcome, please come in. If you don't know what to order, let Chef James Bond (James) who is an artist or his team recommend something to you. Tell them what you like and they have the best recommendations. Today, I had Ono sushi with black pepper, creamy ono sushi, and the Rock n Roll sushi. The Rock N Roll sushi has a little bit of everything (tuna, salmon, snapper, avocado) wrapped in a cucumber. It was fresh, light, and so refreshing. Their ingredients are high quality. We ended our experience with a "flame-seared" salmon and a bite of lemon to seal in the silky taste. I did not take all the pictures but I attached the ones I did, just remember I ordered a lot of food. :)Cost: it is not low but not high either. However, the quality of food and freshness for what you pay is very fair. When I take the family, I have one kiddo that does not like sushi, she gets chicken fried rice. Another kiddo that is a california roll type sushi connoisseur (lol) is easy to order for as well. While my husband and I enjoy all sorts of treats from soups, sushi, and sushi fusion. My point, there is something for everyone there.The last time we were at the bar we met a chef that frequents Motto Sushi because it's his favorite and his girlfriend who orders take out there, weekly. They taught us lots of other items to try out on the menu, so delicious.So, if you're wanting to find a swanky little sushi joint that has fresh and creative meals, head to South Denton and support local businesses. They recently took over so if you visited here years ago, there is a Chef James' and his family are the new owners. Come in and take a seat at a table, booth, or even the bar. Have a fun experience and I encourage, if you're open, have them help you with your order.One last thing, remember, when you leave, practice saying "gochisosama deshita" ("thank you for the meal") when leaving.
I adore this place. Every single time I go its an amazing experience. High quality ingredients, amazing presentation, always pleasant staff, and the best sushi I've probably ever had. If you go on the weekends, they fly in high quality rare fish that I never thought I would get to try in my life. It's not just the best sushi in Denton, this restaurant is going places. The best sushi restaurant ever! James Bon is a culinary artist with an amazing talent. The sushi was fresh, delicious and high quality. The Blue Fin was exceptional. We were privileged to enjoy several of James specialties. Love the warm and inviting atmosphere and stellar service. If you are a sushi connoisseur, this is a must visit. Don't forget to try the delicious fried cheesecake. The Woods family will see you soon, James and staff!I’m the husband of Betsy and I can assure you I have, I thought in my lifetime have ate the best sushi until my son introduced me to MOTTO Sushi-absolutely hands down the best fresh sushi in America and located in Denton Texas, so save your trip to Dallas and Ftworth and come to Denton and make sure you tell your friends and neighbors. If your truly a sushi conisuer (or however you spell that word) and you know what true fresh blue fin tuna is then guys you have to stop in and eat and make sure you tip your hat to James Bon, a truly craftsman, head chef and owner. Never ever seen a chef like him and his other two chefs are above top notch to his wait staff which are family. Great people, superb food and over the top employees.I can attest you will not beat this place-BEST DAMN sushi ever-thanks to my son for finding this place. Unbelievable, if you haven’t been do yourself a favor. James Bond might provide you with the best sushi experience ever, if you release the reins. Omakase is his strong suit to say the least.
We always came here for special events over the years. Recently we saw the sign saying under new management and we wanted to try. Boy was it amazing. As someone who admires sushi as an art form and not just food I can tell you its on par with some of the best sushi I ate in places like California, Hawaii and Vancouver. If you are a true sushi fan who appreciates the variety of fish, not just salmon and tuna rolls, you will love this place! I will be going back again to try some of the other fish i never tried.
This is the most complete sushi restaurant I have been to and I have been to quite a few. All the fish is always fresh and from quality locations for sushi grade fish (I asked and Mr. Bond the chef showed us)The presentation and plating is exceptional and if you sit at the sushi bar you even get little cat chopstick holders for you chopsticks. All of the little details in presentation and garnish in addition to the quality of ingredients are what set this restaurant above the others for me. Ask for the smoked soy sauce! I've never had anything quite like it! Highly recommend!
Wow what a great lunch! Chef James Bond made some great options for us today! Everything was fresh, delicious & super tasty! I will definitely be returning soon & often!
The food was good but I ordered Salmon Avocado Sushi... there were 2 pieces inside. . Not what I was expecting for $8 ... the taste was still delicious. Recommend but be sure you know what you are paying for.
THIS PLACE IS UNDER NEW MANAGEMENT!This is the second time I have been to Motto Sushi and I feel it’s only right I leave a review about how excellent they are. I love exploring the menu and got the mango salmon roll this time and the yellowfin tuna sushi.Both were absolutely incredible soft delicious and well presented. The mango salmon roll was just the perfect amount of salmon to sushi and was very filling even though it’s a rice less roll.I have been to many sushi places over the years and this is one of the best of Denton! There are so many options on the menu that are unique and I’m sure you will find something you love. Please support the wonderful family who runs this place because they really care about their customers and that the experience is fast and great. It’s family asian owned small business and they deserve it. I always have great experiences here and the staff is super nice as well.The sushi they use is extremely high quality, soft not fishy tasting and just overall mouthwatering. Their garashi and yuzu ponzu sauces are also to die for. Check them out and you won’t be disappointed!!!
Absolutely hands down the best sushi. Sushi chef James Bond and his family run an awesome restaurant with a huge welcome when you walk in and great service. Sit at the sushi bar get to Chef Bond and his family for an incredible sushi experience!
