Traveled through Denton and saw Cartwright's on Tripadvisor. So glad we stopped. They were very busy, but we were seated and waiter was very helpful. Great Chicken Fry. Fast, friendly service is a plus these days! Recommend this stop on the square if you are passing through!
Quality food. My salad was fresh and crisp, the bacon on my BLT was so good, and the tortilla soup was incredibly flavorful. My aunt enjoyed the chicken fried steak and the rest of the meal. Only negative was that she said the biscuit was hard. Our server was a little scatter-brained, but he was very attentive and friendly. When we go back to Denton, we will eat there.
It’s easy to order more than you can eat here! My daughter and I had lunch ere. I had a steak and the sides were incredible! A delicious baked potato with all the fixings. My daughter had a chicken dish with lots of mashed potatoes and gravy. We had a fun time. I like the ambiance. It’s an old western ranch feel and in Denton Square - it fits right in!
Went to breakfast with friends and wanted to try a new breakfast place and I was super impressed!The staff was so on top of drinks and making you feel comfortable.The eggs on my meal were cooked to perfection and the corn tortilla were super crisp despite the amazing sauce covering it.My friends said that there meal was super good and that nothing was undercooked or overcooked.Again, absolutely loved the staff, they were just so sweet and bent over backwards to get you what you needed.If you want a good breakfast place to get a quick bite or to gather with friends, this place is perfect.
Cartwright’s never disappoints! Great food, service and value! It’s worth the drive from Arlington to dine here!
Acting on the recommendation from someone who resides in Denton, my sister and I decided to have lunch at Cartwright's Ranch House, located across from the old historic courthouse. Let me tell you it was a good decision. There's a lot to choose from on the menu, including all day breakfast, burgers, sandwiches, salads, soups & entrees from meatloaf to fried Catfish. I ordered the Chicken Fried Steak with mashed potatoes and fried okra. My sister decided on the breakfast item of Chicken Fried Steak, two eggs over medium, breakfast potatoes and a biscuit. This was home style cooking at its BEST. Neither one of us could finish our chicken fried steaks, although we tried. Service was friendly and helpful ( Thanks Josh). Next time I'm in the Denton area I will be stopping in at Cartwright's. ?
Our first time here. Bustling, friendly atmosphere which made us happy. Unfortunately, we were seated right on the edge of where where the wait staff put in their orders and picked up the food. Not unfortunate because of the wait staff but because we had to witness so much uncleanliness. There was nowhere for these folks to wash their hands and one server took off her mask and coughed all over food and ice and beverages. They were rolling silverware right next to where they were putting up dirty dishes and it just seems like they needed somewhere to wash their hands or to be a little bit more sanitary. For the most part, our breakfast was really good. Our bacon was mostly uncooked And one piece was still cold like it had just come out of the pack. They did adjust our bill for this though which was nice because they really didn't have to.

One a recent trip to Texas, we made a lunch stop here. There were four adults and we all enjoyed our meals and the service a great deal. The server was very friendly and the service was very quick. But most importantly, the meal was absolutely delicious. I highly recommend you have the Chicken Fried Steak! Outstanding!!
