We visited Rustico for the second time on Friday, June 24,2022. Excellent food choices. The Chicken Cancun was the star of the show with the rum and pecan sauce with plantains and seasoned vegetables. Really great atmosphere. 5 stars to the chef. The only negative part was the restaurants temperature appeared to be the same as the outside temperature which was close to 98F and frequent visits from pesky flies which took away from the dining experience. The wait staff were very friendly and attentive but there seemed to be a language barrier, the five of us got our meals but they were not what we ordered from the menus which were minor hiccups (Spanish rice served when Poblano Rice was on menu) and with the humid temperature of the restaurant the tea and water glasses stayed empty, we had to ask numerous times for refills on all the beverages and for additional ice as the empty glasses of ice melted quickly. The above were minor issues that the Excellent food and great atmosphere more than made up for.The Mexican food at this place is the best in Denison just make sure the person taking your order understands what you are ordering.
Finally made it to Rustico after a lake weekend at Texoma. This is now tied for our favorite Mexican restaurant near Texoma, and wins our favorite dine-in Mexican spot. (Favorite to-go is Cielito Lindo). The food at Rustico is obviously made fresh with whole ingredients. You can taste the difference. Our table tried chicken queso enchiladas (yum), tortilla soup (one of the best I’ve ever had), and steak fajitas (so good). We also tried the mambo taxi (exactly as expected), sangria & Bloody Mary. The chips were warm & fresh, salsa was GREAT. And somehow they were able to provide amazing service even though they were short staffed. Just be patient, it’s worth the wait. Highly recommend.
I'm down here in Dallas Texas for my dad's military burial. My step mom took me there because my dad took her there every Friday night. I'm a professional magician and she asked me if I would show some magic. I said of course I would. The owner came over and told me how much he loved my dad and my dad really liked him as well. In a short period of time they become best friends. When I showed him my first card miracle of the night, I could see in his eyes how astounded he was. He wanted to give me a tour of the restaurant. The entire place was just gorgeous. There were pictures and articles from newspapers all over the place. To make a long story short, I had the abode shrimp and crab enchiladas and they were fabulously the best I ever had. I was there enjoying myself for 3 hours.
We must acknowledge the wonderful food and staff! Every visit is better than the one before if that's even possible! My Mom and Auntie (80 + years old) are 2 of the best cooks ever. Well traveled with years of experience, they both agree Rustico is the best they have ever eaten. Don't change a thing please!
Planning my daughter's baby shower...I sent them a message and they said they would be available and had it reserved for us a week ago. Contacted them today and they said oh sorry I didn't realize it was a Sunday we close at 3. I mean but you reserved it right for the day and time I set up??!! Very bad for business! I will ever step foot there in that restaurant! Had I not reached out to them again then my party would showed up and they be closed. I told them the exact day, date, and time!
The food was great, the amount of food for the price was very reasonable, our waitress never let my tea glass become empty, they're definitely on top of their game, I had the chicken fajita, it was sooooo good.
We always love their food! This particular time I had the chicken fajitas which were excellent! Usually I get the pollo con queso. This is definitely in my top two favorite places to eat in Grayson county!
Great food with a unique touch that complements your favorite Mexican dishes. The Carne Asada plate came with a side of rice fried with a surprisingly perfect blend of cilantro. The roasted jalapeno was sprinkled with queso fresco and a Pico salad that consisted of diced fresh tomatoes and pineapple. Yes, pineapple. A plesent surprise to an allredy very appealing dish. The side of pinto beans were cooked to perfection with pices of smoked bacon, onions and a hint of garlic. Finally the main event. The Carne Asada was roasted to a mild almost brisket like crust that gave way to a moist center you could cut with a fork. The next dish pictured is Chicken enchiladas. Smothered in a home made white cheese sauce and filled with shredded smoked chicken that got better with each mouth full. A side of Mexican rice and refried black beans made for a classic combination that screams comfort food. We will definitely be back the next time we are in town. Great job!
Best Mexican food I've had since moving to Texas from California! The salsa had just the right amount of heat, the wait staff was friendly and attentive, the chips were fresh, and best of all, our entree wasn't swimming in queso!I would recommend the Adobe Shrimp with seafood enchiladas. They were divine!
We were fortunate that Chef waited on us for our first visit It was a pleasure talking about why he loves this. I will say this is by far one of my favorite meals I've ever had - honestly. I enjoyed every bite. The meal was so flavorful! I chose the lobster and shrimp chile relleno. Perfectly plated over poblano rice, the smoky flavor blended subtly. I loved the smoky tomato sauce for the lobster and shrimp, and the pepper was perfectly breaded. He chose the 2 enchiladas and enjoyed the chicken . I sampled his refried beans and they were so smooth and full of flavor.
