Well that was an interesting experience. We came in late in the evening and the service was so slow. Our food came out in to go containers even though we were dining in the restaurant. Our sides didn't come out until our dessert came. Overall if you are new to Texas think Applebee's but lower your expectations a lot. We won't be back.
Hubby and I enjoyed dinner on the small patio -- the weather was perfect. My fish & chips were large and plentiful, the green beans were tender and flavorful, and the side salad was crisp and fresh. Our waiter was great and very pleasant -- the first time he came to the table he already had a handful of extra napkins for us -- something I usually have to ask for. Our food came out quickly, and our waiter checked in with us several times. Hubby enjoyed his meatloaf, tomato soup and caesar salad. It was a great value.
We arrived today and it was close to an hour and a half before we got our food. The server was rude and slow and basically ignored us. When we called attention to the fact that our appetizers hadn’t come out but they were bringing our meal he said oh it’s the cooks fault but they were ready and we would grab them. We asked them to cancel them because at this point it was ridiculous to have them. . We could see them in the window for awhile and others who arrived after us had gotten their appetizers. When we had asked for rolls earlier he said it would be 10-15 min they were baking fresh. Okay that’s fine no big deal. But then we started seeing them taking baskets of bread to other tables and none were ever given to us then when we asked again he told us it would 10-15 more minutes. At this point we are frustrated and ask for the manager who didn’t act at all concerned with our concerns. Also my Brother in law ordered quesadillas that were $12 and it looked like a meal for a 5 year old…. I would never go to this cotton patch again. Horrible service.
Before we talk food, a shout out to our server, Ireland. Despite being somewhat busy and having worked the lunch shift too, she was really attentive and so welcoming. I also need to drop in a conversation from another table. Their server told them he’d been at Cotton Patch before he was born. When his mom was pregnant she worked here! So cool. Now, to the food. Some of the best queso ever. I know that’s a bold statement but this brisket queso is downright craveable! Our entrees were a solid high scoring hit too. We had the chicken fried brisket and chicken fried steak. As a note, I told my better half the green beans so good they tasted like they came from the family reunion. For dessert, I couldn’t resist the Mama’s cake—yellow cake and cheesecake combo. It’s definitely rich (no surprise) but my was it was it tasty. If you are passing through or just need something different, this chain won’t disappoint.
Let me just say this first: my server, Chase, was absolutely amazing! He has a great energy and is very attentive and helpful! Great job!!Texas born and Texas proud, Cotton Patch Cafe has been in business for more than 30 years.. the food is usually pretty good. Tonight was a little different.I started with the brisket queso and chips.. it was delicious! Queso Blanco with a bit of brisket and a drizzle of barbecue sauce.. it was excellent! Then I had the Shiner Bock beer battered fish and chips. In true pub food fashion, the three fish filets were thickly battered and fried... but they were a little over done and tasted burnt.Caesar salad was perfect! Fresh and crisp with just the right amount of dressing..Probably won't do seafood next time. I'll just stick to the favorites..
Service was really great! Food...not so great. I like hot food. It wasn't. This is our second time there and the first time the food was absolutely wonderful. This time the food tasted a little different. And I ordered the exact same thing since it was so good last time! Maybe it was the lukewarm temp, if that, that changed the whole taste of it! I don't know how it could be so different from one visit to the next.
Fried green tomatoes, chicken & dumplings, fresh warm rolls, and of course...country-fried brisket with Dr. Pepper Bar-b-que sauce! Its beyond ordinary home cooking...and oh, the desserts!
The cooks here know what they are doing.when they can make grandma's Sunday dinner tastes great on their plate. Well.... let's just say not to many people can make blackeyed pees and catfish double mashed potatoes. Oh.. nevermind just look at the picture. Oh and the brought me out a slice of that hummingbird cake for my birth day!!
Food was good. Server was so so. Reminder is the Cotton Patch not Cheesecake Factory. Good value for the $
Ordered 5 soups and 2 appetizers tonight for pick up. Had to wait an hour. Only received 2 rolls for 5 soups. The tomato basil was less than half full. The lid to one of the potato soups was cracked and spilled all over the other soups. The potato soup x4 orders were all missing the cheese and bacon toppings. The fried pickles had no ranch and were cold. This is absurd! How can every item be messed up or incomplete? I call the store and ask to speak to the manager. I’m placed on hold and no one ever took my call!
