Amazing flavors that far, far surpassed anything I had in Tulum, Mexico. Just superb food. And the service was superb!

The restaurant itself has really good decor. It is loud but that is the intention as it is trying to replicate the types of restaurants you would find in Tulum MX. They do a good job of recreating that atmosphere, but it stops there. The restaurant was extremely uncomfortable since it was well over 100 degrees outside and we were told the AC system was broken. I certainly hope this was a one off because I certainly expect a certain level of hospitality from restaurants at this price point and having read the reviews I had very high expectations for Tulum. We started by ordering a drink which to be honest, they were pretty decent. The appetizer came next and we ordered the oysters. While they were flavorful they left a lot to be desired. The oyster itself was extremely small but they do a good job of hiding the fact with all of the toppings. I personally can do without all the extras because I enjoy the half shell experience and the brine was overly masked. Since you the appetizer left us wanting more we ordered some chips and hot sauce. The hot sauce had great flavor, although I am not a fan of thick heavy chips at a Mexican food restaurant. By the time our meal had arrived we were sweating so much we could not really enjoy the experience. We are huge fans of cochinita pibil and we look for any restaurant that serves this amazing dish. This was by far the worst cochinita pibil we have ever tasted. It more closely resembled a pork chop with barbecue sauce then the slow roasted marinated cochinita we have grown to love. I enjoy a good atmosphere and can appreciate what Tulum is trying to accomplish here but I cannot get past how bad the food is and will probably never go back.
