I took my partner for a birthday dinner on a weekend evening, which was basically an excellent experience. There were a few correctable flaws, but first you have to accept the fact that this is a very expensive restaurant which I would reserve for business meetings or very special occasions. Among the many pluses are: 1) Exceptional complimentary valet parking service; 2) amazing veteran servers and support staff; 3) wonderful setting (but stay away from the main dining area (see below) and instead try to get a table in one of the attached more intimate side rooms; 4) exceptional tasting food; 5) complimentary birthday dessert choice; and 6) wonderful bar for pre-dinner drinks. Among the areas to be improved: 1) when you tell the manager/greeter that you're early for a reservation and will be in the bar getting drinks, that manager/greeter should either come get you when your table is ready and/or come ask you if you want more time in the bar. Unfortunately he lost track of us and I had to go back up front (10 minutes after our official reservation time) to remind him that we were in the bar and ask if our table was ready (which he acknowledged had been ready for quite some time); 2) portions are too small to split, even though that's how my partner and I always order. We like to order a starter, entree and side dish -- all split. The guacamole, while very tasty, didn't arrive with enough chips nor enough guacamole to really satisfy 2 persons despite the pricey cost; The halibut split produced two small pieces which could not have been more than 2 oz each, but perfectly cooked and exceptional tasting; 3) Portions of pricey wine by the glass could be 1 - 2 oz larger; the portion of complementary dessert, however, was definitely enough for two persons to split, as was the side dish of HUGE steak fries; 4) we unfortunately suffered by being seated in the main dining room right next to an exceptionally boisterous group of 4 women who were loudly and constantly laughing at each others jokes. That's just bad luck, I understand. In all, we've done our Mansion "thing" and probably won't return unless suggested by friends (or we hear that the weaknesses identified above have been resolved).

A lovely evening in every way. The mansion is warm and beautiful. The staff is incredible and the menu is inventive and delicious. We enjoyed everything!

I tried to book a table for 8 people on a non-holiday November weekend (not Thanksgiving, CMAS, Valentine's Day, Easter or Mother's Day) to celebrate my husband's birthday with friends. After my phone call was finally returned 2 weeks later, I was told that a table greater than 6 people was required to have a Prix Fixe menu. When I asked to speak with the manager, he was extraordinarily rude and told me he hoped we would have a great time elsewhere. I don't know who these people think they are. My husband and I had hosted wonderful celebratory dinners here for many years, but after this treatment, we are going elsewhere. They are not worth it.

We parked on the side of the road so we wouldn't have to pay for valet parking. The food was beautifully presented and good but expensive. The atmosphere was awesome. I'm glad we splurged as part of my long birthday weekend.
