It upsets me to have to rate this place this many stars. Back in the day of 2014 and 2016, this was absolutely the place to be for me. I would love to come here even if I was just hanging with my best friend and would watch a movie in a clean, well taken care of, and we'll respected theatre. The food options were amazing and at a fair price, and just everything about it to me was what made it my favorite theatre at the time. Unfortunately I cannot say that now because it has gone downhill. The quality of the screen, the theatre itself, and the establishment as a whole seems beat up kind of and unfortunately a little trashy. I genuinely hate that I have to say that since I really wanted to give this place a chance, but it disappointed me a lot more than I expected it would. At least Sonic The Hedgehog 2 made it worth the disappointing experience though! Mainly why I'm giving it 3 stars instead of less!
I love a movie theater that serves adult beverages! And the fruity margaritas we had were delightful (even if they salted instead of sugared the rim as suggested and requested!). The real bummer to this theater wasn't the usual amenities but the way the seats are laid out, fairly flat like you're standing in the pit at a concert. To be really stellar, this theater would need to change to stadium seats so we aren't looking thru shoulders and bothered immensely by servers bringing out orders.
Is was a good experience food portion was not fair enough for the prices and no meat on most of our wings but the food was FRESH HOT AND NICELY PREPARED LOOKING ALL CUTE AND STUFF the drink ? well couldn’t taste anything but the MIXERS so needs more alcohol ? REALLY I JUST DIDNT FEEL LIKE COMPLAINING ABOUT ANYTHING BECAUSE IT WOULD MOST LIKE RUINED EVERYTHING so. Here I am now trying to recap the time we spent there! OH YEAH THIS ROOM WAS CLEAN AND comfortable also &&&&&&FOOD DID COME ON TIMELY MATTER EVEN THO THEY FORGOT ONE OF MY ITEMS BUT HELLO THEY FIXED IT BY RUSHING TO GO GET IT no discount But okay I wasnt looking for one neither thanks
It's fine. The food is okay. I don't really like their burgers. I always get the Thai Chili wings those are pretty good. I'm not much of a drinker and can't comment on that. The servers are pretty good. I just didn't like it that in the final scenes of Dr. Strange I was distracted by wait staff clearing dishes it took me right out of the movie.
I recently started going to the movies since I hadn't been due to the pandemic. Studio grill in my opinion is the way to go. I have visited the one on Royal and the one in Richardson and both have been really good. They offer reclining seats and food to order at the push of a button. I have tried the pizza yum, BBQ burger yum and popcorn with warm butter on the side and I have not been disappointed. The only con I must speak of is the fact that somehow they always add stuff to my bill that wasn't mine. At both locations I had at least $5.00 added but they corrected it once I informed them. They take the payment when you order and you don't get the ticket until the end of the movie so it's hard to notice until after you have paid. Overall it was a simple mistake and it was corrected immediately so no harm done. The waiters have all been very accommodating so I will definitely go back.
Went to see Sonic 2. The theater hallway smelled musty like feet and there was some political organization set up inside with tables right near the front. The whole place and experience was so weird the only redeeming factors were convenient location and excellent/attentive wait staff. I’ve been to other SMG locations and none were this stinky or served as a political campaign venue.
Came here with my family to watch the new Spider Man movie and the overall experience was sweet! The seats were very soft and comfy! I had the cheese fries with brisket and it was super salty??. The watermelon margarita definitely made up for it tho! Would definitely recommend for date night, family night, or any kind of night honestly. Can’t wait to return!
I was really excited as I walked in to this movie theatre. Looked nice, clean, and potentially comfortable. I was expecting to pay a bit of a premium for the waited service, nice seats, and great options of meals to pick from. But even with expectations in a place I thought was appropriate, I was very disappointed with the "price to performance" of the experience, because it was bad.We saw The Batman, which I understand is a dark movie in itself, but noteably done pretty well from what I could tell. I thought the theatre might keep the lights at the brightness they were to let people finish eating and what not, but no, they kept them near full blast the entire movie. There was never a moment of dimming the lights, and it was extremely straining and annoying! It really made the experience of watching a movie like having the blinds closed with no curtains in your living room... not something I'd pay money for.Not much to say about the food other than being very mediocre for $14. Waiting staff was good enough, nothing of note (they charge a 18% automatically). I decided to get a cocktail because I thought why not? We are at a nice place, might as well try one! Well, I have not seen a smaller glass with more ice than this one, at least not for $14! I chuckled at the sight of it when I got it, immediately thinking it had to be a joke.Also, it was very weird and disconnected from the experience to have insurance ads before the movie begins. There was no pre-show or interesting trailers or videos, just your average TV or YouTube ads. What a disconnect from an already expensive experience (especially comparatively to what every other theatre offers).Lastly, to top it all off, the joke of an experience, the charge an extra $2 for the seat, AFTER already paying for the tickets. $2 isn't much, but after all the extra customers pay for the ticket, food, drinks, mediocre wait staff (I'm not expecting much since it's a movie theatre, a fine dining staff experience is not what is needed in this setting), and all the other premiums, you want $2 more? If this theatre is going to have the prices it has, people should expect more, and this wasn't it.Who knows, maybe they were having an off day, but me and all the people I came with will never be coming back nor recommending this theatre.
This place is absolutely HORRIBLE. I sat down at 6:35pm. Movie show time was 6:15pm everyone knows movies do not start on time. Movie had NOT started when I sat down. I ordered my food on their app before arriving. I notified the server right away. She said now that I am here food would be right out. 20 minutes go by. I ask ANOTHER server with an attitude he goes “I tried to bring it 20 minutes ago but no one was here” This is a lie as at this point I had been waiting for 20 minutes and I don’t care if you tried I PAID for this food and I got here before the movie started. Waiting. Waiting. I asked ANOTHER sever if he was going to bring my food or if I needed to speak to a Manager this was at 7:10pm. It’s 7:18pm right now. It’s been 40 MINUTES since I sat down. I just walked outside and asked for my food AGAIN. Still waiting. Horrible customer service. Servers that don’t care and ignore customers. Worst movie theater I have ever been to. If I could give zero stars I would.UPDATE: Food arrived at 7:21pm. Almost an HOUR after sitting down. After having asked FOUR different servers. The only way they listened is when I physically walked outside to their area and asked for a refund or my food. Don’t recommend anyone to come here
SMG used to be one of my favorite places to go, but this location put me off. Arrived to a dirty theater, popcorn and trash all over our seat so we just sat somewhere else. We ordered food that was missing sauce. We then asked for a glass of water 3 times throughout the movie which was like 2 hours. Never got the water, and at the end of the movie they just gave us someone else’s sprite so we just stopped asking all together. These kind of things happen frequently, so we’ve been going to Alamo Drafthouse. Hope this feedback helps turn things around for SMG because it’s a childhood favorite place.
