I love soul food. It’s literally one of the best foods out there . But unfortunately, I’m not impressed. First off , the food should be edible. My opinion, sweet potatoes really doesn’t need extra sugar or cinnamon unless used for a pie. Secondly I thought dressing had celery some type of vegetable. Collard greens are considered good for you , but we drown it salt. It’s not worth the price for a veggie plate. Could be better for sure .

I just left this place attempting to order a vegetable plate. When I got to the cashier, I had to wait until the two ladies finished their conversation and then I was a tab of 14.06. For 3 vegetables and a roll. Not even a drink comes with it! Are you serious. Granted I did not look at the prices. But EVERY WHERE else charges less than $10 for a vegetable plate and you get more vegetables. Especially at lunch time. I left that with the cashier. I see why hardly anyone was in the restaurant. And turn some lights on! Too dark!

The staff was very nice and professional. We had a large group of family eat there after attending a funeral. Not one person was happy with their meal. The food wasn't seasoned. It definitely didn't taste like soul food. We were very disappointed. The plates weren't cheap and many of us threw away mostly full containers. Very disappointing. ?

I am very upset, I called first the guy that answered gave me the menu for 12-31-21. I drove 52 miles to get chicken vegetable spaghetti, he said chicken spaghetti not this ish!! I am not from the South so maybe this is what you guys call chicken spaghetti here. I got off my path headed to LA for this. Please be specific and put a sign up saying vegetable spaghetti, I should turn around and bring it back and tell the owner a thing or two.

Was so happy to finally be in the area to try this spot. Had smothered pork chops, greens, rice, and cheese and hot water cornbread. I haven't had hot water cornbread since my granny passed years ago. Line moves fast. Great variety of meat options and sides. I was bummed they had no sweet potatoes but my tender pork chops, flavorful greens and cheesey mac and cheese made it all better.Only gripe is my kool-aid was warm. It was my first time in so I probably overlooked the ice machine.I love how diligent they are about the mask policy.

We spent over 75$ and 90% of our food was cold even though we ate inside! My entire plate was cold and salty, the macaroni and cheese had a strong sour taste to it, and all 4 pieces of cornbread were burnt. They hot water cornbread tasted like a full on corn dog without the weenie. The greens tasted like they just dumped a full bottle of vinegar in them. They were more focused on the Cowboy’s game that was going on than making sure we had everything we needed. 0/10 would not recommend if I could give them 0 stars I would because this is unacceptable.

Ever had a Sunday when you didn't want to cook? This was mine. Wanted fried/baked chicken only have legs, thighs and wings ONLY! Ordered fried catfish, and after paying for my order and waiting to the side I was informed later there was none in the building shortly after opening. Don't you brief the employees on what's available prior to opening the door?? Asked for brisket which was listed on the menu as Brisket/Pot Roast. I was told Brisket was the same as pot roast. Coming from Ohio, really? Ended up with under cooked chicken wings which were great when heated in the oven at 350 for 45 minutes. Greens (F) Glory is better, sweet potatoes (A) peach cobbler (B), cornbread (A). Next time I'll go with my first choice, Cotton Patch! Disappointing!

I've tried this place before it was okay. Tried it again today ordering, beef tips and rice, cabbage, mac n cheese, cornbread and carrot cake. Definitely did not like the look, cut or taste of the beef and a bit bland with the rice. The sides were okay cabbage being the best, and cornbread was good just a little dry, it's still okay. Carrot cake was good and moist. Honest opinion, if you're a natural cook looking for a break and something savory worth the buck this wouldn't be a chosen place. Just go home and cook.

Needs pest control and a deep cleaning. It’s unacceptable to have roaches crawling in plain site on the food counter. I think they are so much better than that. I mentioned it to the waiter as well.

I always come here from Bedford. I've been coming here for years and never have had a bad experience. I take my family here when visiting from Galveston! The people are awesome. And the food is just always fresh and delicious! Since the pandemic everything has gone up. It's okay for me! All these businesses took a very huge hit. I am just trying to be one loyal customer!
