I called to order since COVID I find it more secure to order on the phone. The lady on the phone told me unless it's over $40 order i have to come in and stand in line like everyone else. I drive there and stood in line to get to the counter and told to wait and they were out of pretty much everything. So I decided to just order sides. Then was told to wait. They were too busy putting orders together for those whom ordered over the phone $40 worth of food. I'm pregnant and hungry. Just wanted some bbq. This was my first time attempting this a place as I am new to the neighborhood. I am very disappointed. What a waste of my time.
I took a trip last summer to Dallas just to experience real Texas BBQ for once in my life. This restaurant was my 4th & last stop before flying back to CA. But let me tell you something... Food: This place was the BEST TEXAS BBQ JOINT EVER!!! I got a 3 meat 3 side plate with pork ribs, bbq ribs, fried chicken, brisket chili, cornbread, and carmelized sweet potatoes (and I'm so glad I got this exact combination)! The brisket was so tender, which gave it a great contrast to the crispy chicken. Brisket chili was also an amazing invention. Lastly, I believe the carmelized sweet potatoes were baked with some brown sugar inside. It was a nice compliment at the end of the meal because it tasted like a dessert! Wait: My party and I arrived an hour within opening, and the line went by incredibly quickly! Seating is first come first serve. There are a lot of tables set up in the back area too :) Ambiance: The decor inside the restaurant is very quirky and fun, giving a nice Western-vibe. Very fun to look around and appreciate the posters & signs while eating! 100% recommend anyone to come visit this BBQ joint! Wish we had Slow Bone back at home!!
An awesome neighborhood BBQ joint tucked away on the corner of Irving Blvd and Sylvan, Slow Bone serves classic Texas BBQ with all the homey vibes. I'd put it at the top of BBQ joints in this area (definitely better than Ferris Wheeler's). Buy meats by weight (the fatty brisket is great, the jalapeno cheddar sausage is the best), by the portion (pork ribs are fantastic), or their loaded sandwiches (the 1/2 lb brisket sandwich for $12.99 is more food than you would hope for). I'm told their fried chicken is excellent as well. Sides that I love include their fried okra (made fresh) and the chili mac.
Great BBQ. So unique. I took my family here a month and a half ago for lunch. We sure enjoyed it. Watch our video on YouTube-The Never Ever Happy Family-The Rodz. Subscribe!!
Show them some love and get some take out during this period of Covidiocy. Had the pit sandwich. Was awesome. Absolutely best mac n cheese I've ever had!
We had the pleasure of trying Slow Bone for takeout out recently. I'm a native Texan and like to think that I know my barbecue. This place is fantastic! It's honestly some of the best barbecue I've ever had. The ribs fall off the bone and their sauces are great! Make sure you try the sausages and brisket too! Definitely recommended as a new option for takeout whether it's for yourself or the family!
I've been living in Dallas a little over a year, Slow Bone BBQ has been recommended multiple times. So I got bored at home during this lock down and went to wash the car. Thought I'd try this no navigation out and got lost in Dallas. But!!! I ran into Slow Bone! Not literally. I got excited and went in. The smell was intense with flavor. I ordered way to much takeout. 1/4 pound each of sausage and brisket. Brisket melted in my mouth and the sausage was perfect. I highly recommend just ordering a full pan of cornbread. The greens were perfect. Plenty of food, then I saw the Brussels au gratin. Had to have them. Amazing. Mac and cheese. Do it. Then you move down to pay and they get you with the pea salad. I'm full and happy. Can't wait to go back and enjoy my meal at a table. Thank y'all for being open and very mindful of our current situation. It was great to see all the safety precautions you are taking to keep staff and customers alike safe. Cheers
Our final stop along our BBQ pilgrimage was at Slow Bone BBQ, an assuming BBQ pit which is home to a flock of carnivorous pidgins. Due to the virus we had our food to-go, and grabbed turkey, brisket, and four pork ribs for me. Of course, for the last time, i got my favorite mac and cheese. I’ve fallen into a BBQ groove here- eating pork ribs and Mac, occasionally sharing a bit of my meat, while sampling some burnt ends, fatty brisket, and occasionally a bite of turkey.
Absolutely fabulous BBQ! I am a huge fan of the fried chicken, beef ribs, and Mac and cheese. This will be a definite stop again if I am back in the area!
Got a 1/4lb precut block of brisket that costed $6. It was cold and dry. Typically BBQ joints cut the meat off the slab in front of you. The $6 1/4lb worth hickory sausage was alright. Good meats don't require BBQ but I tried it anyway; it tasted like mustard sauce. Sides cost $3.50ea, I got some yams with pecans in it, it tasted like a desert and didn't flow with the smokey meats on my taste palate. The chili mac & cheese was pretty good. Sides were generous portions. All and all I paid $22 and was not happy. Maybe I'll try it again another day, but not anytime soon. Plenty of better BBQ joints in town for less.
