I liked Mi Cocina when it was in Oak Cliff. I was so excited to see it downtown. I just knew we were. in for a terrific treat. NOT!!! This is the worst Mexican food I have ever had, except for the salsa (obviously from a bottle). The salsa was decent. The service was fine. I ordered beef enchiladas and chicken tortilla soup. My daughter ordered the sunset enchiladas. My first bite of the enchilada was a shock! It was ground beef (okay) wrapped in a corn tortilla (expected), and topped with what tasted like canned, potted meat (maybe Wolf Brand Chili). It tasted awful. I like Wolf Brand Chili, but it is not for an enchilada. After the first few bites, my stomach started to hurt and I felt a bad case of indigestion coming on. I rarely get indigestion, so this told me the food was really bad. Needless to say, I did not finish the enchilada. The rice was okay. The refried beans were soupy and definitely canned, cooked with water and not mixed very well. The chicken tortilla soup was tomato paste and water, made to look like soup with 5 big pieces of canned chicken. Yuck! Like I said, worst Mexican food ever. My adult daughter, visiting from out of town, could eat her enchiladas. They were equally bad tasting, poorly cooked. Never again!!! Worst Mexican food EVER!!!
We were there on 2/22 for my birthday and our waiter was Carlo Ramirez. He was awesome. And I told him that. He said he had only been there a week and you would never know it. He was very attentive, very polite, kept checking back with us. I certainly hope he stays there a while. Also Erica para paid special attention to me. She was wonderful. So friendly, warm and great sense of humor. I will always go back there just because of these two people that made my birthday extra special. Thank you both. This was at the location at the Dallas tollway and frankford. I can’t wait to go back and see them. Thanks from the bottom of my heart!!!!
We came to Dallas for NTIF. When it came to dinner, we didn’t want to eat at Fair Park so we found this place not far from our Air BnB. Guacamole dip was spot on. We both had the enchilada dinner & again spot on. So much food we had to ask take out boxes. After a long day, I had a double margarita. Tasted good & refreshing. Hubby had iced tea. Waiter checked on us frequently. When we got the check, my hubby asked if they had military discount, so waiter checked & said no but manager gave us a discount for 1st timers. That’s how you keep patrons coming back! We gave the discounted amount to our waiter-it was that much!! We will eat here at the north Dallas site for every Dallas visit.
Over the last 30 years I have spent tens of thousands of dollars at Mi Cocina. NO MORE. Their $9 and $12 margaritas and sugar free margaritas ($12) are now watered down and so overpriced. They have raised prices on everything. Last visit I ordered a small cup of bean soup (just beans and water) and it was $8.00. We had soup and casadias and a couple of drinks, nothing special, always over $100. Really tired of paying this much for Mexican food. As a side note, we own a business in Allen and sponsor charities 2-3 times per year. Part of the event is a drawing. The small businesses always donate a little $25-$50 dollar gift card for the drawings. EVERY TIME I approach Mi Cocina for as simple gift card contribution, they have a elaborate reason why they CAN NOT. Never have they contributed. The little family owned cafe does, Mi Cocina acts like we are asking for the building. They are really cheap and greedy. Much better choices out there folks, I have been fooled by them too long. Never again.
Wow, so impressed, especially in today's business environment. I'm not sure where one could find a better mix of delicious food, attentive service, affirming ambiance, and reasonable prices. Plus Madison our waitress was wonderful and made my mother's birthday lunch an especially delightful experience. Well done!
I continue to try this place as it is close to me, but I continually get poor service. As usual we were seated and got our drinks and ordered. Until we got our food, i never saw our server so my water and drink were empty. Only half way through our meal did they finally come back and refill anything. The food is great every time, it is just the service that is poor.
The food here was fantastic! The chips & salsa are by far the best I’ve ever had in a restaurant like this. Our main food was fresh and savory and the drinks were just as amazing! The strawberry mojito is so refreshing! Eddie, the bartender, is so knowledgeable about the drinks and knows exactly what you would like! He was very helpful and friendly! Everyone here was so kind and helpful. The manager also made an appearance and was super nice! I am blown away in the most amazing way!
Another great Mi Cocina location! We just came in for a couple of drinks and an appetizer so we sat at the bar. Food was great, Mambo #5 was exactly as expected, delicious. Everyone behind the bar was great and made the time enjoyable.
The chefs never miss!! Food is always on point and delicious to the point where I clean my plate almost 100% of the time! (I say almost because its always so filling that sometimes I don’t finish!) Eddie is amazing as always and very attentive and polite! Very amazing location and I highly recommend coming here for an amazing time!
Food was good. Consistent with other locations. Ordered over the phone since their website is poor and you cannot comment or make a note on the order if you want something extra (i.e. onions carmalized with fajitas) They spelled name wrong and couldn't find order. They no longer are doing curbside pickup which is inconvenient. After all of that, get order home and it is all wrong.
