Arrived and sat out on Patio with my Sister. Sat about 8-10 mins before a lady arrived with her dog and male companion. Immediately she was greeted and order was taken while we sat without anyone acknowledging we needed to order let alone have water brought to us.Yep we left and went to Mi Cocina
Came here on a recommendation. Not the most pleasant experience is a euphemism. Waiter must have stopped over to see if we wanted to order more a dozen times asking if we wanted anything else. Then brings the check over without me asking. You might be thinking this is good customer service but there was a strong implication of trying to usher us out. We ordered two big azz margaritas and two entrees. Cant even sit, chill, and take a load off after a day of work? I was there for an hour tops. Let me live dude. One and done with this place.
The ONLY place I've found in Dallas that still has a happy hour margarita under $5... and it's jumbo size! Happy hour Mon thru Fri from 2 to 6, with half price house margaritas AND appetizers. The stuffed jalapeños are handmade and excellent. Chips and salsa are among the best in town. The Bob Armstrong dip is a must (they're well known for it). I believe house margs are also half price all day on Sundays. I can't speak to the entrees, though. Service is friendly and attentive. Nice patio too.
I remember when Matt's used to be a great restaurant. Since they moved to it's current location the food quality has slowly deteriorated to the point where I dont even finish my plate or ask for a to go box. The bob dip was cold. The crispy tacos were pathetic and bland. However the margarita was still good and bartender did his best. Good for him. Sad to see it go so downhill.
Dallas icon and fantastic food. I always get the traditional tortilla soup. you should too!
We have eaten here fairly often but after the last meal we'll probably not return. Rice was too salty and the beans just aren't very good--I usually don't finish either of the sides and for me that's unusual--big eater. We kept returning for the fabulous chile relleno but the rest of the meal is not appetiizing.
Still encountering some service issues at this Dallas institution. Food is still awesome though! Bob Armstrong dip, the Regular Dinner, and Cowboy-style Chicken Fried Steak are some of our favorites.
Great Chicken Fried Steak and awesome way to celebrate finding that perfect East Dallas home for my client! I really love their hot sauce. One of my favorites.
Great happy hour. Giant margaritas and half price apps. The smoked bob is amazing
I would consider this restaurant as rather average among Mexicsn restaurants. I don't think you will disappointed if you eat here, but you probably won't be blown away, either. Dallas has a lot of Mexican restaurants. Heck, this state used to be part of Mexico, & a lot of folks who don't have an ounce of Hispanic blood (myself included) have eaten & loved Mexican food our whole lives. I've had better Mexican food. I've also had worse. I came here with 2 neighbors who had eaten here before, & had high praises for it, so to be fair, they may have gotten my expectations too high, but there wasn't anything wrong with it. Decide for youself.
