Loved the original marugame in oahu Hawaii and when I figured out they opened up the store in Dallas, I was thrilled to try. I finally got to check this location out, and first thing I noticed was the price. It’s nearly twice more expensive then the original Hawaii marugame. Kind of shocking because you would think things in Hawaii is more expensive than Texas, and I am sure it actually is cheaper to make here, but yes it’s almost twice more expensive here. Taste was still very good, like amazing, no doubt it, but we got two udons with one spicy sauce, three tempuras, and two drinks and it was $40. (and plus tip was $50. Of course tip is our choice but we genuinely give good tips normally to respect.) anyway, I feel like it shouldn’t be this expensive for simple two udons with simple three tempuras. I don’t really care about the price for the good food, but maybe it’s just because I know the original marugame. But except the price, taste again is very good and nice to try, but I am not sure if I would personally go back again. For sure will go back when I go visit Hawaii again. (Fyi, we got tonkotsu and curry niku udons with shrimp and squid tempuras. Both are really good that I can’t pick one to say which is better.)
What amazes me is how precise and orderly everything is. It’s fun to watch them make the udon, which tastes amazing. I love the beef one (I don’t remember the name but the picture is below). My one advice: I got sake, which has a magnet at the bottom of the cup. Don’t poke the magnet unless you want sake all over your jeans. Besides that, I had a great time.
We finally got to eat it again here after our Hawaii trip in 2019. Best udon I’ve had, the beef one is our favorite, also their tempura is so crunchy and oily!
Variety of udon dishes, some bowls change with the season and there's a variety of tempura and sandos as well. Restaurant is clean and the atmosphere is laid back with a dragon mural on the wall.
I love the place. Great taste and highly recommended
Beef teriyaki was a bit dry but you still can’t beat this place.
Hands down…best udon in dallas…i had the chicken meatball, soft egg with chicken broth. definitely recommend this place.
Hits the spot when you fixin' for some chubby noodles or Japanese curry. No frills, but clean fast casual environment. Affordable housemade Udon that beats restaurant or Mitsuwa food court quality.
Awesome food! The staff was so helpful and friendly and knowledgeable. Service was fast. It’s dangerous that this is so close to home for me! Eric made sure to take extra good care of us with recommendations and ensuring nothing I was allergic to was in the dish I chose.
I’ve been to the other location and it was just ok, so I didn’t have high expectations coming into this location. However, I was surprised by how friendly the service was and how good and fresh the noodles were! The store was very clean as well. Highly recommend! Shoutout to Eric who took care of my order and provided great customer experience!!
