Wasn't too bad for my 1st time their... wish there were other side option substitutes other than fries.
I ordered 6 steaks and 3 fried green tomatoes. My entire order was over cooked out of the 6 there was one piece I could actually taste The friend green tomatoes were over fried and sliced way too thinly I couldn’t taste the friend green tomatoes. Whoever cooked it knew when they pulled it out it was over cooked.
It was pretty good but I felt the breading was too hard or the grease was old but besides that it was pretty good. I probably just caught them on a bad day. I'll try them again.
I had high hopes due to all the great reviews. Chewy catfish that had an off smell. I just couldn't stomach it and threw it out.
I used to love love love this place. It's been a year or so since I've stopped in. Lady at the front counter very friendly.....food portions awesome as always BUT...... Although my nuggets were well seasoned they were not fried as crisp and back in the day. Some pieces were soft or undercooked in the middle I was so sad. But hey I will give them one more try at a later date cuz I know they can be on point!
Good food, no question about that. But we were trying to get fried perch, and they told us they didn't have it for the past 3 months due to supplier shortages countrywide. I think that should be posted somewhere, because people go by Google. I guess the best thing is to call ahead, but the catfish was definitely good. Btw, Catfish Floyd doesn't have perch either, and yes, I checked.
Food was great. Only recommendation is for them to use different packaging other than Styrofoam plates. The condensation from the warm food eventually made fries and fried shrimp soggy if you don't consume it right away.
I go to JJ Fish often for their Fried Chicken wings. The food is great, the have a certain unique flavor to them. The guys are always nice!
The Chicken Wings, Fries, Strawberry and the Italian Ceeam Cakes were excellent. However, the "Catfish" at JJ Fish & Chicken was awful. We live approximately 45 minutes from this location, so you can imagine our disappointment when we arrived home ready to enjoy some Catfish and bit into the first piece of Fish. The wings were so good that we ate some in the car before getting on the highway to return home. The appearance of the fish was esthetically pleasing, but when you bit into it, the fish was like rubber. I've had Catfish from other establishments, refrigerated what I didn't eat, returned to it a couple days later and the meat was never this tough. Therefore, I ended up just eating the crust and throwing away the rest. I'll return to JJ's but never again will I order the FISH.
Horrible taste dirty. Taste like they cooked it in dirty grease. I was sooooo thirsty while i eating i wasn't even thirsty when i went there just hungry. The one in Lancaster is waayyyy better same restaurant totally different experience.
