Simply the best overall authentic Mexican restaurant in metro Dallas. Located near Highland Park I highly recommend you make a reservation. The fresh grouper with rice and black beans is top notch both in preparation and presentation. The chips with homemade salsa served warm is simply the best you will find anywhere. The service is old school and each table is given outstanding attention. The prices are extremely reasonable for the quality of food and service you receive.Valet parking is an added bonus.

Went to Javier’s with in-laws for birthday. First time at restaurant, and had old time feel. Upon arrival to restaurant, the staff was was very courteous and friendly. In which they were very inventive. Our waiter Leo, was excellent, and over saw our needs at the table. We ordered the quail, and was the first time having it. And will not be the last. This is an restaurant that you will be back again

I hadn't visited the very popular Javier's in several years, and it's just as good as ever! My partner and I enjoyed a fabulous weekend dinner even though we weren't able to reserve a spot for 2 until 9:30 p.m. We went early and were taken 15 minutes before time. The place is, understandably, bustling! Lots of small groups, mostly young, enjoying every aspect of this Dallas institution. We started with delicious margaritas (you can select from among multiple choices including, if you wish, pick your tequila of choice). A "small" guacamole easily is shareable by 2 persons -- delicious, slightly chunky served with crisp fresh tortilla chips. Two types of warm salsas come out when you sit down in any case. We split a very healthy portion of Mojo de Ajo red snapper -- a fantastic preparation, perfectly cooked and simply delicious. It filled us up despite being shared. Our server was so very attentive throughout. Looking forward to returning again sooner rather than later.

Awesome dinner, clean my plate! I had the Red Snapper MoJo De Ajo, my sister had the Garlic Shrimp Guaymas and my nephew had the Fajitas! And of course I had to have a Mexican Mule! The soup was good too , we had the Caldó Xochitl soup, yummy! Everything was Worth Every Penny! The food was Fabulous, libation were delicious, I would give 10 stars if it were possible! Great atmosphere, people love it here! No wonder they have been here 44 years, and they get it right! Applause to the wait staff, our waiter was Amazing! If you love Mexican food, give them a try, They wont disappoint! Now one of my Favorite places!

Has anyone ever had a bad time at Javier’s? Doubt it. My husband and I visited on Valentine’s Day evening so you can imagine how busy it was, but that didn’t seem to slow them down. We had reservations and were seated immediately after valeting. Our server was friendly and provided great drink/food recommendations throughout the night. The cocktails were fresh, the food was hot and the desserts were amazing. Highly recommend trying the black bean soup and the house special, “Filete Cantinflas”.

When the waiter brought chips and salsa with butter I should have asked for my check. Butter and tortilla chips and salsa is NOT Mexican food or good. My food was raw and odd, not authentic in any way. I’ve never heard of two thin steaks with cheese in the middle and covered in red sauce (not an enchilada sauce) as a Mexican entree. The restaurant was packed and aside from our very sweet waiter (the only positive) it was slop on a plate. Would not will not go back.

It is no surprise that the restaurant is always very busy because the food and drinks are Excellent, the service friendly and the atmosphere is very lively. The mole is special and the drinks are creative and reflect mixology effort.

Such a great place! Cocktails were perfect. The quail was so flavorful, and appetizers were solid. I loved the waiter's descriptions of all of the dishes. Even in the colder weather, the outdoor, heated patio was a nice place to dine. The heater is pretty hot if you sit right under it, so plan accordingly.

Several of our friends told us to try this place, so we did. The food was good but we were not impressed especially with the service. It was very slow and basically they took our order and dropped off food. NO personalization or effort at all. They also gave us a small two top table that was on the way to the bathroom and my wife's chair was partially in the hallway. The food was very good but overall not a good dining experience at Javiers
