The vegan delight sandwich is pretty good. Be sure to double check they add the toppings you ask since I was missing my sprouts even though I asked for it today which was disappointing since I was looking forward to them. Not many toppings inside. It’s a good option and thankful they have gluten free bread. Just wish there were other vegan options!
Found out this wonderful sandwich shop isn’t closing anymore and we’re all lucky for it!My friend pointed out that there aren’t many independently owned sandwich shops in Dallas. After finding out this place was due to close, I knew I had to try it once before the opportunity was lost.Went with the intention of trying one sandwich but then saw the description of The Godfather on the drive-thru window and had to change to that. Listen, this is now my new favorite sub sandwich and I’ve had it two more times since. It’s so flavorful and the olive oil mixture that they put on it elevates it to another level. Service has always been good too even after my first time when I received the wrong sandwich, they were super apologetic and I got a pickle and brownie along with the sandwich I ordered when I went back. They’ve gained a new loyal customer. Here’s to many more years of delicious sandwiches!
Horrible sanitation standards. The first time there was a post it wrapped with the sandwich. Now there is paper in the sandwich. Horrible experience
This absolute staple of the traditional sandwich shop is my basis of comparison among all sandwich shops. The one that was on Garland Road when I was growing up was a frequent stop on hot summer days spent with my grandmother and great aunt. Unfortunately, the news that this final location on Lemmon Avenue is closing at the end of December 2021 made this trip bittersweet. The food is still stellar, the shop is charming and I wish I could hold onto this piece of Dallas childhood a little longer. Bon Voyage, Great American Hero, the memories will always be fond. ❤️
The most fresh subs in Dallas, Texas hands down. Forget about subway, Jimmy Jon’s. Jersey mike. Nothing comes close to this family owned and run subway sandwich shop. You will never go wrong with the number 1. The Italian Jersey Style.
Hands down the best Sub Sandwich Shop in Dallas and the best sandwich shop in Texas. The best submarine sandwich I've ever had. Italian #1 is highly recommended. Fresh Quality ingredients and even the lettuce was shredded fresh! Awesome staff and the service was friendly. Please support this business while your in the Dallas area.
We'd come here back in the day, sit on the small patio or dine inside or maybe just grab a bite to eat from the drive thru, and then maybe some ice cream, if my belly had room for it . This place is a gem ?. The owner is an awesome person. (and the owner never ages) You walk in and feel the love. ? Sad to see Hero closing soon. You will be missed. My fav is roast beef on wheat with cheddar hot.
First time pulling up, after living in Dallas for some years now. HUGE menu, Christine was so patient while we looked. Her questions were thorough and she had such ownership I had to ask if it was her store. You could tell she believed in her food ! Can't wait to dig in. I'll follow up
?WOW!!! I'M SO GLAD I GOT TO EAT HERE BEFORE IT CLOSED!!! ALSO IF IT'S YOUR FIRST TIME EATING HERE YOU GET A FREE ?COOKIE!!! The Grilled Reuben was AMAZING! HAVE TO GO BACK BEFORE ITS GONE FOR GOOD!
VIsited for the first time. Sandwich was very plain - quite possibly was missing oil & vinegar. It was odd that there were two sandwiches in the order, same item, but one was wrapped in paper and the other in aluminum foil. Dining room was closed at 7:15 PM in the evening and only drive-thru was available. Regardless, it was not noteworthy and there are many better options from chain sub shops.
