Flavor: AService: BMimosas: BSolo dining: BI came for the pancake pot pie and I enjoyed every bite. Don't be quick to pour the syrup on it - I enjoyed some bites without the syrup and it's still great. What a unique creation with all of the breakfast goodness in one bowl. I would've preferred strips of bacon rather than crumbles and I could've had more gravy, but it was overall still great. We waited for a patio table and if the weather is nice I'd highly recommend doing the same.
We were in the middle of eating my wife and I, when I kept smelling a funky smell, I finally found where it was coming from and it was the plate!!! I politely told the manager my concern and he responded “well what do you want me to do about it?” I then asked him to smell the plate, which he did, but his response was snarky saying “It smells like a plate” I asked to smell again and he said “I don’t smell anything”. I then got mad and said I don’t want to pay for it which he responded he’ll call the police. Yes I’m a black man ?. Don’t eat there food was just alright anyway.
We were recommended for breakfast at Ellen’s, which was superb! - Skylar was our server and she was friendly and very attentive. Sadly we returned for dinner a day later, which soured the memory. The menu doesn’t change - it’s the same all day (we didn’t realise) - and the evening staff had a very ‘serve, eat, go’ approach to customer service (we’d barely eaten the last bite before the check was delivered). So - go for breakfast only.
Nice restaurant. It was suggested by our hotel staff. We were very pleased with the quality of food and service.
Ellen's is a little treasure in downtown Dallas. It is inviting, the food is marvelous, and the service is excellent. The Manager is just delightful, and visited with us a couple of times during our meal. He even accommodated my granddaughter when she needed a mask to catch out Uber back to our hotel. Thank you for a lovely, quiet dinner!
Lovely location and atmosphere, but the service and food were surprisingly disappointing. Not really worth the long wait.
Amazing place! Unique menu. Everything is done to perfection. They have both indoor and outdoor seating and they are in a terrific location in the West End. They have a full bar and a coffee bar. The lattes were excellent. The menu has a fresh and creative twist with things like the pancake pot pie and fried tomatoes Benedict. Everything from the service to the food quality and service was spot on. It is definitely worth a visit.
I loved the restaurant, I can't say the same about our server . It was almost like he wasn't listening to us at all or just didn't care about the quality of the service he was providing. That being said yummy. ?.Ellen's is located downtown Dallas. Very limited parking close to restaurant, and it's metered , a quarter for every 15 minutes but there is a pay and park only a block away. The server breakfast , lunch and dinner ?.
We were in Dallas for a girls weekend. Found Ellen's while looking online for a place for Sunday Brunch. We had an hour wait but it was SO worth it. We were seated at the bar, which was perfect for us. The bartender/server was a doll. He was able to answer all questions about the menu. My bloody Mary was delicious. I decided to try the pancake pot pie. O.M.G! It was massive and delicious. The left overs made for another fabulous meal. I'm so happy we chose this place. It's a must for our next trip.
Have not been in Dallas for a very long time. Looking for local cuisine close to hotel. The buttermilk fried chicken was very good, the sides mushroom with chilies and chards were god too. The spicy beef soup turned out to be just like chili and it was good but it could be more spicy. The reason I didn’t give one more star is because I had ask for utensils and extra hot sauce, and got none. The food came 15 minutes later than original quoted. There are other interesting dishes I would try in the future, but maybe at the restaurant instead.
