I was excited when I heard Carte Blanche would be opening in Dallas. We have outstanding restaurants but I’ve always thought it was a city deserving of elite level cuisine. Think French Laundry, Eleven Madison Park…I’ve been to Carte Blanche five times now and it gets better and better each time. The wine pairings are exemplary, some great choices that I was unfamiliar with but loved. Food is an art form, and the combinations of flavors are spectacular. Most recently we tried the tea pairing. Im not a big tea drinker but after this experience, I just wasn’t drinking the right teas. They were all so aromatic and delicious. They were just recognized by Forbes as a 5 star, best restaurant in Texas, and I must say I agree. Having been to many Michelin starred restaurants, I’m looking forward to what Carte Blanche can achieve. I think they’ll get there. I don’t write many reviews, I like to keep great places to myself ?, but felt I needed to give credit despite the risk a reservation becomes hard to come by. ?
Nothing special about the donuts anyone can make a glaze and put it on a donut and flavor it. The chef / owner has very bad attitude and is obviously rude to patrons. As he has a personal opion so do many of the ppl who have left reviews! Perhaps they should go back to Phoenix! Did i mention the donut was burnt? Seems to me burning a donut is hard, even mom and pop shops don’t put out burnt donuts to be consumed. Donut knowledge? Well i have had many from all over the world and none of them were burnt, like the one i ate that day. Harsh? Look in the mirror and your replies to other ppls reviews…..My reply is to your added comment you were very rude in your reply when i left an honest comment about my experience. These pictures are from my first visit. My second visit which was last week And the burnt donut i ate well, i didn’t get a photo, but you seem so eager to discredit people’s reviews rather than learn from them. Who is the one name calling? I’m not bullying i simply left a review. It seems you like to leave the same insults to others as well. I hope your donuts are not burning as you keep writing and adding more insulting comments in response to my review which was originally a couple of sentences! I will accept your bullying and move on to review my experiences at other bakeries from all over the world. Also you encourage people to speak to management, but your hostility from reviews is quite alarming, i hope your not abusive to your staff or other people, god forbid to see who you would be in person.
The staff is so proud of their product which invites you to sample everything! The display of foods is like a beautiful picture you have to take. My top favorites are the boar in a blanket and the black and white brioche. Very large and shareable bites. The brioche was delectable as it was the perfect soft/crispy bite of glaze and chocolate with coffee crumbles. The boar in a blanket is a large croissant that has the perfect amount of everything seasoning and every bite is perfect, crispy, melt in your mouth, tastiness. You also get an extra treat with the boar in a blanket; a juicy, tasty, cheesy sausage link inside! This is a place you must stop by in Lower Greenville!
Carte Blanche is serving some of the most sophisticated dishes in Dallas - and with a regularly changing tasting menu at that. The staff is very considerate and attentive in guiding you along the subtle surprises in each of the 5 or 12 courses you may choose from. We enjoyed the 12 course, which was a significant amount of food, but not over-filling.Come hungry, and ready for a truly dynamic progression of flavors, especially with the reserve wine pairing that is both interesting and delicious.Highly recommend - this place is special and the La Rue's food is not to be missed.
The pastry selection is top notch and the biggest problem is figuring out what to choose when there are so many yummy selections. I did a pre-order which was super easy for pick up. The boar in a blanket croissant was buttery, flakey, peppery and left me craving more. A definite favorite.
best tasting menu around staff is attentive and knowledgeable but not pushy, and the food is amazing, can't wait to go again,
Opened in June of 2021 by Amy and Casey La Rue Carte Blanche was never meant to be taken lightly, the Tasting Menu evenings and morning Viennoiseries telling a story of the husband-and-wife team who met in Phoenix before cooking in some of America’s best kitchens and finally settling in Dallas. Occupying a former Restaurant in Lower Greenville, its current layout divided left and right behind a big wooden door, 7:00am sees guests led left where Amy’s Pastries reside along a counter behind glass, some two-dozen daily choices ranging from beautifully laminated Danishes to tantalizing Doughnuts topped with shiny Glaze. Priced on par with other such concepts, plush leather chairs offering far more comfort than the usual café, it was with wide eyes that nine Pastries plus two Coffees were ordered, first bites of a Soft Pretzel offering good stretch and a bit of heat before attention turned to an Almond Croissant stuffed with housemade Paste that is only subtly sweet. Next enjoying a world-class Kouign Amann while an orchestral rendition of Macklemore’s “Thrift Shop” played, shattering layers and Sugar falling to the ground while the center was still wet with Butter, La Rue’s Bostock succeeds as a result of good Bread and over-ripe Bananas while her Cream Cheese Danish carefully balances weighty filling with delicate surroundings. Not afraid to dip into more “homestyle” selections, the day’s Carrot Cake Loaf moist beneath Pecan Streusel, one would be hard-pressed to name a better Chocolate Chip Cookie than Carte Blanche’s oversized version while both the Brioche Doughnuts and eggy Crullers are peerless – the later especially better than any previously tasted.
My husband and I were surprised with the five course tasting meal by my brother and it was an amazing experience. The entire restaurant felt very cozy and laid back, with understated and tasteful decor complimenting the very friendly staff. Our waiter, Jason, was very helpful and knowledgeable helping walk through the entire food journey. The food was perfectly portioned and balanced, hitting all different notes, but overall blending together into a delicious and eclectic meal I would recommend to anyone looking for a fine dining experience.
Very impressed! This was our first time here and it won't be our last. Every bite was amazing and dazzling. They easily made adjustments for one of our parties allergies and our waiter, Sergio, was patient and informative. We did the 5 course and could not take one more bite. Everything down to the plate choice and lighting was well thought out. I can't wait to swing by the bakery some morning to pick up a dozen of those pretzel bites!
This place was a wonderful experience. The 10 course tasting menu was fantastic, truly one of the best meals I’ve eaten. Server was super nice and the wine pairing was also really great, kudos to the sommelier which was also super nice. Do check this place out.
