Very nice vibes, great bartender, and they played mac miller the entire time we were there ????
Wonderful Vibe! Bartenders will make you a custom cocktail. Definitely worth the price and the time to enjoy an experience and speakeasy.
This place has great staff INSIDE, but the bouncer/ door guy is AWFUL! I’ve now had two bad experiences and will not be going back.1st time he sat my group at a booth upstairs and before we could even get a second drink he told us we had to leave! Apparently a bigger group was coming .2nd time he told us they were at max capacity and he would “text me” when we could come back and before we even had fully walked away he let the group behind us right in. There was no “waitlist” or “call back”.
They take pride in their drinks. True bartenders. Great atmosphere. Love this place.
I want to start this out with saying the drinks were delicious. We told the bartender the types of drinks we like and he made us something along those lines since they don't have a drink menu. He knocked it out of the park. However, we decided to only stay for 1 drink after the encounter with the bouncer working the door. I saw all the great reviews of this place, so I decided to plan my birthday around going to this speakeasy. We had originally planned to hangout here for a few hours and have a couple drinks, but chose to leave early after getting berated by the bouncer. We did dinner in Trinity Grove and then Ubered to the bar so we wouldn't have to deal with parking (approx 9:30pm, so it was still early in the night). Each of us had 1-2 drinks throughout dinner, so we were all completely sober when we arrived at this bar. We walk up, and the guy immediately starts asking how many drinks we've had as if we were acting drunk. We were walking normally up to the door. We stood there so he could check our IDs and continued to ask about how much we'd been drinking as if we were lying and acting super drunk. Again, we weren't. We were all sober and getting annoyed with how rude he was being for no apparent reason. I stepped up onto the sidewalk as we were about to go in, but I did it in a weird way after injuring my knee last week, and he latched onto that and started asking if I was alright and implying I was drunk. It was completely uncalled for, rude, and ruined the overall experience at the speakeasy.Perhaps this isn't the normal experience. I'm shocked this place has so many great reviews with no mention of this bouncer's absurd behavior (maybe he's new?). Because I completely understand wanting to ensure a belligerent drunk doesn't ruin the atmosphere and experience of the bar, but that doesn't mean you berate and interrogate every patron that attempts to walk through the door, especially when they're behaving normally and being respectful as they approach the bar. I won't be returning to this bar after this poor experience. And if you're planning to attend, be prepared to defend your prior activities and your level of sobriety, even when you're sober.
The bouncer was disrespectful to women and allowed a group of guys in who were clearly drunk, while implying we couldn’t come in because his boss didn’t want smu students in that night. We were all adults and not smu students, and then told us the “drinks were too strong for us”. Very condescending and do not recommend any groups of girls go here there a lots of better places to get a drink. You would think management would want to address the issue since several other reviews mention an issue with the bouncer, but apparently they do not care if the bouncer makes women uncomfortable or treats them differently.
Damn this place is cool. 100%, if you like cocktails - you're in the right place. The staff, in particular, are experts at their craft and very knowledgeable.
No service. Nobody knows how to shuck an oyster. Ordered 2 draft beers. I ordered a half and half..it was done wrong. My friend ordered a draft beer. Took 30 minutes of excuses to get it. Hamburgers were ordered medium rare but came well done. 3 beers..half price happy hour burgers and 6 1 buck oysters somehow came to 60 dollars. A raw deal.
Great atmosphere and unique drinks! Went for my birthday with friends and had a great time. Although it was busy the bartenders were very helpful and attentive
Amazing first experience at Atwater Alley! I’m so sad I didn’t visit earlier. Otis and Roger were incredible and so much fun to chat with. The drinks were superb. Had the best time and can’t wait to visit again…hopefully soon!
