Cool place, cool concept. Very pricey for the most part. I ordered a grilled chicken sandwich and a drink and it was $18 and some change. Worst part was that the chicken wasn't all the way cooked. The guy said they smoke it first then grill it but it definitely wasn't fully cooked. At least the fries were good. I want to come back and try other items just not the chicken.
We tried someplace new last Sunday... here's the review... ? The Jalapeno Cornbread with the Maple butter ???... my favorite thing there. We ordered 2 more to go. I ordered the potato flautas with mac and cheese. Don't recommend the flautas were weird flavored and the Mac and Cheese was grainy. The guys loved the brisket! The sausage was ok but not great. The chicken fajitas as a choice of meat was primo. Ordering the Old Fashioned is the way to go. Strong the way they should be and the bartender was great. The queso had the same grainy flavor as the Mac and Cheese... but ok in flavor. The Guac though... they give you a great portion and it and it was tasty!
This place has been on my radar for a while. Decided to give it a try on National BBQ Day (May 16). I ordered the three meat plate (ribs, brisket, and sausage) and was not disappointed. The ribs were among the best that I have had in my life. Sauce wasn't needed but I tried a little out of curiosity and I thought it was really good (not too sweet). The portion was very generous and I had to take some home. I highly recommend this place.
Pretty cool place, love the atmosphere! You go order at the "Order Here" and sit. They give you a number and bring your food to you. It seemed to take a while to get food, but worth the wait. The queso was delicious! We added brisket. I got the fajita tacos and they were good, but the meat had a bit too much "smoked" flavor for me. Hubs got the enchiladas, and they were excellent! The staff was all super friendly.
I understand the meaning of “inflation & location “, but $2.50 for an onion , ? Carl’s has it going! More for the buck $$$ sorry 😞
I am so glad they kept the original decor. This restaurant is so pretty on the inside, and the bar is awesome! On this visit, I tried the brisket tacos and they were fantastic!!! If their broccoli salad was as good or better than mine, I would have given 5 stars...LOL! Kidding...more of a pricing issue, but I understand the price of brisket has gone up substantially.Nice place for date night, if you want a NICE bar to visit, and something different done with BBQ ?
Last stop to eat before leaving Houston. Group of 11 people- it was pretty empty during lunch time. Ordered at the register sat down and the food came out quickly. Great service and friendly workers. I ordered the pork tacos with cream of corn. Highly recommend this place.
5 stars for the following reasons:1) Food - We ordered Brisket, pork ribs, sausage and a cheese burger - exceptional. Sides: Beans, potato salad - no short cuts, just delicious! I also ordered a cup of TX Red Chilli - loved it! BBQ sauce - vinegar based, goes well with the meats2) Good people - Everyone I interacted with were friendly, warm people3) They are focused on their business - I happened to mention a glitch on their online ordering process and the owner took time to understand the issue and they were immediately trying to figure out how to fix it. As I stated earlier, they don't cut corners, in fact the napkins they give (to-go orders) is high quality.Glad that they opened in our neighborhood!
Wife and I visited here for lunch, on the weekend. The location is very open with lots of seating. We ordered their Smokey Queso appetizer which was cheesy, but the flavor was not quite on point for what we enjoy. We probably should have added a smoked meat to enhance it.For my lunch I ordered the Smokey Fajita Tacos with Brocolli salad for my side. The tacos were okay. The meat was very tender. The flavor was good. The salad sounded great in the description, but for me, I didn't quite like the flavor of the buttermilk dressing with the salad itself. I think it clashed too much with the other flavors. My wife liked it, though. My wife tried their Frito Pie and added their jalapeno cheddar sausage on top. The smoked sausage tasted great. The chili on the frito pie was very smokey in flavor, and spiced well. All in all, if you are a big fan of smoked meats this would be a great place to visit. I enjoy smoked meats but I found that I was hoping for more flavor outside of the meats in our dishes. The staff there was very friendly and nice and I do like the openness of the restaurant, as well as the craft soda choices. It's a good place for a quick bite when heading somewhere that has it on the way.
Great experience at Burro & Bull. Made a last minute change & met group of 20 at bar for food & drinks before our private showing of Batman. Food, Drinks & service was awesome!!
