I have always been pleased with the food anytime I ordered…except for today. We ordered the chicken strip baskets for our 3 year old and myself; the chicken looked fine, but the smell of the chicken wasn’t pleasant at all and it didn’t even have the taste of chicken. I don’t know if it was the batter or the oil they were fried in but it was terrible.
A friend and I tried this place based on reviews and us hunting for good crawfish. You have to watch one so you don't drive past like we did. Both of us ordered the fried oysters with red potatoes. She also got corn on the cob and I got the green beans. She enjoyed the fresh corn. I didn't care for the canned green beans. The hushpuppies were nice and crisp. There was so much breading on the oysters it was as if there was no oyster. It tasted off, funky and gummie. The potatoes were hard. We bother ordered a pound of crawfish. She ate hers there. I had ordered mine when I couldn't eat the oysters. I waited and waited for the crawfish. Once she was done and we were ready to go I went to the window to ask them to make mine to go as we were ready to leave. My order was already made to go and waiting at the window.. I told them I had wanted them for my lunch at this point but now I would not be getting any lunch. There was no I'm sorry, just a grin. I took all of thr left over food home, including my friend's oysters. We did look and they were very small. It looked like half of a small oyster. Not a full oyster. When dinnertime came I put the oysters in my air fryer at 425 for about 3 minutes. The gummy we had tasted was gone and hubby said they tasted okay, even with all the breading. The problem had been that we were served fried oysters that had raw batter inside. The gummy taste was the raw batter. I had an upset stomach all day. I had the crawfish the next day. They were nice and cold but somewhat overcooked. I am glad I didn't listen to the young man's suggestion to toss the crawfish back into boiling water to warm them up. I would never do that and he looked at me like I was from Mars when I said I would not do that and will eat them cold. He told me if I didn't recook them then they would be soggy. I probably looked at him like he was from Mars. The crawfish were medium to small. But the seasoning was perfect. Even with the okay crawfish and me cooking thr red potatoes in thr microwave, neither of us plan on returning. When I told them the potatoes were raw, they just looked at me and sort of grinned. I am not used to the restaurant not trying to fix a mess up such as raw food.
Food was great! Fried catfish. Boiled shrimp, mushrooms and pecan cobbler, we will be back! ?
The food was great but for the sake of God, upgrade the outhouse (porta potty) to a regular restroom!??
Nothing like the true taste of TX BBQ w/ a little bit of rustic TX decor to eat it at! Been here quite a few times to eat & we always like to bring friends or family here, especially if they're from out of state...we think it gives them that true TX experience! Try it when a big ol' storm is coming thru...a life time experience right there too! Yeehaw!
Food was very good. 1/2# Boiled shrimp and. Steak sandwich was awesome
The food is delicious. The variety of choices is awesome . Bbq sandwich, fried okra, baked potato, bbq street tacos, Mac n cheese, sweet tea, . All is very good and the service is wonderful. I could eat their every day.
Portions are always excellent and the service is friendly.I think the smoked brisket is outstanding!
We really enjoy Tucker Town. We've eaten just about everything on the menu and it's always very tasty. Be prepared for a no frills restaurant, port-a-potty is outback! Highly reccomend you give it a try!
