Tasty evening family meal. In town for the weekend and found this gem through TripAdvisor. Off the beaten path and seems more like a locals joint. No wait early Saturday evening, but people were waiting when we left at 8p. Great service! Only knock is their seasonal cocktail menu was 6 months behind. Food was awesome. Fantastic fresh drum dishes. Desserts hit the spot. Exactly what we were hoping for.
I was traveling on business and seeking a local seafood joint that served a variety of fish preparations. I sat at the bar, the had the College World Series on, and the bartender’s suggestions were “home runs”. They normally have local drum and snapper. Prepared many different ways.
Don’t let the bland exterior put you off, this place is legit! We’ve been looking for a new place that didn’t rely heavily on fried seafood, rather fresh, inventive, dishes. Our server was Elizabeth, and she recommended a nice Pinot Grigio, Casteggio, and it was a perfect compliment to our delicious meal. I had the Cajun Shrimp Fettuccine, and my husband had the Grilled Mahi and Shrimp - both were excellent and perfectly prepared. We are so happy to have found this place on Google, and will definitely be back next time we are visiting the area!
Contacted the restaurant that afternoon to make a reservation for that night. Good thing I did. People were waiting to be seated. The waitress was courteous and friendly. Our orders did not take too long. The food looked like the pictures on their website menu. We enjoyed it. For my personal taste, more seasoning for an even better flavor would help, but the food was quality and tasty. I ordered the whole fried snapper. If you want fish, I can recommend this restaurant. My family was pleased with their food too, especially the desserts. This was our first visit to the Blue Clove. Heard so many positive comments that we had to try it.
The appetizers on the menu were very hard to choose from. Everything looked amazing. We had 2 orders of ceviche as well as the bacon wrapped shrimp. Perfection. The gumbo was so good, and very meaty. We all had different versions of drum, and each one was unique and tasty. The bar didn't disappoint either... I had a old fashion that was made with the perfect balance of sweet vs bourbon. The dirty kettle martini was also on point. Great place with an attentive and friendly staff.
There are no stars so although I do recommend for eating, customer service was lacking. While the food was excellent, the manager or asst manager, nor execution of food was acceptable. We were a table of 6. All of our food came out but my son's. He only ordered pesto mahi-mahi. We waited 10 min and still no food. I got up and went to kitchen door, several employees looked at me through the window and ignored me. The asst manager or manager walked out kitchen doors and totally ignored me. I then proceeded to go up the front. She still ignored me. Finally I got her attention and told her the situation. She seemed annoyed and I followed her back. She didn't even go to kitchen but another room. She then came out and said "you can't be back here". I asked why and then told her there is no sign that says employees only. I did remind her that she walked right past me earlier without even saying anything. She seemed really so annoyed and horrible customer service. Finally they walked out with my sons plate. Never an I am sorry, we apologize, can we make this better for you; not even ma'am you need to leave. Nothing. Then the woman goes back up front and here comes another woman in a UT shirt and they start talking about me. Everyone was done at the table by the time my sons food arrived. The food is great but the customer service at that point was bad.
We are from MN and brought the red snapper we caught the day before when deep sea fishing. A local raved about Blue Clove. We chose half blackened and half sautéed and it was absolutely delicious!! Perfection! It also came with rice and veggies which were very good. Wonderful prompt service at this restaurant, too. We would definitely come back when on vacation again.

I had the crab cakes for an app....omg the best crab cakes ever! Pecan crusted red snapper for my main course....amazing. My hubby doesn't like seafood so he had chicken fried steak and it was also very delicious. Also can't forget to mention the service was just great!! Highly recommend!!
Had the peacan crusted snapper and loved it! Nice atmosphere and great staff. No long wait and food plated beautifully.
