It was awesome. Great food great service

This is by far my favorite place to eat when in the area. I am sad that my review this time isn’t stellar. The placement of our table had waitstaff leaning over my head the entire meal to get menus. The steak was very rare. Luckily, while I didn’t order it that way, I didn’t have a problem eating it. I was not a fan of the fondue or the Mac and cheese- both extremely watery and lacked flavor. Everything else- delicious!

Noisy 1st table next to kitchen doors. Chair seats were badly cracked. If you charge $50 for on 8 ounce filet, you should do better. Moved us to a quieter table and waitress took our order. Reservation was at 7:00pm. Food arrived at 8:30pm. Food looked beautiful but very bland. It desperately needed salt and pepper. Far too expensive for what we received. I get paying for ambiance, but that was disappointing.

The food was fantastic. Being a foodie snob, I am particular about where I spend my money to eat. Cutters in Seattle is number one, only because they offer cedar smoked Copper River Salmon, and cedar smoked Copper River Salmon Bisque, which are the very best things I have ever eaten. Next comes the Met. The Metropolitan Grill in Seattle. The best steaks in the world! Then comes the Republic of Texas! Their steaks are amazing, I had the 12oz filet mignon medium well. It was perfect! The Republic's steaks could give the Met a run for its money. The biggest difference between the two is the service. Don't get me wrong, the service at the Republic is good, but not awesome. A few examples, one of our party ordered 3 creme brulee to go. which they provided (first without a bag to carry them with), and it was obvious that one of them had fallen (in the box) upside down so the creme brulee was all over the inside of the box. Very disappointing. One of our party didn't like asparagus, so they ordered broccoli. When the food came, there was just asparagus. Once the servers was reminded, it only took about 10 minutes to get the Broccili. Next paying the tab, we wanted the big part of the meal on one card and a couple of the deserts to be on a separate card. Which items went on which card was explained and the big ticket card was handed to the server, and then the desert card was handed to the server. Bill came back, and it was wrong, backwards. So we had to point it out and they fixed it, after another 10 minutes of waiting. Overall the dining experience was very good, and I would eat there again, but it could have been so much better.

The main reason to go here is for the view—that is what you are really paying for. Compared to other high-end dining establishments, this one could use a little bit of work. We went for a special occasion (significant wedding anniversary), and at other fine dining establishments we are used to getting an offer of a free dessert, to take our photo, glass of Prosecco, or just some acknowledgement of the special event. Even though I had put wedding anniversary in when I made the reservation, I think all we got is “congrats.” I have to eat gluten-free, which I’m aware can be a challenge, but I had to change my original order because the peppercorn sauce and the cheese sauce for the au gratin potatoes is not gluten-free. Also at a restaurant of this caliber, it is customary when one guest is gluten-free to offer something in place of bread (gluten free crackers, literally anything—even the bad store bought gluten free bread that you know has come out of a freezer just for the occasion of a gluten-free guest—it’s better than having to watch someone else eat fresh bread and having nothing). Granted I don’t expect that from everywhere but if you’re the fanciest restaurant in town, I hold you to a higher standard. The view was spectacular, and the steak and baked potato were very good. Fortunately I could have the bearnaise sauce, which was gluten-free.

Based on the reviews I was looking forward to dine here but the shrimp plates where not good. The shrimp tasted like frost bite so my mom did not enjoyed the meal. The views of the bay are beautiful but the food left a nasty after taste

The staff was great and the food came out timely.
