Under NEW management. Food is great and the staff is very friendly. I enjoyed the experience and the decor is beautiful with awesome photo ops. Food is fresh and plenty of options. I was in Corpus for a full week for a traing conference and ate here everyday for lunch. Never disappointed and the onwers make yiu feel welcomed. Private gem known by locals but visit if you're going to Corpus Christi, you won't be disappointed. Affordable prices and home cooked food away from home.
The food and the service here was outstanding. I had pork chops, chicken wing (not a tiny wing), green beans, mashed sweet potato, corn bread, cucumber and tomato salad, turkey and dressing. I had to take the slice of chocolate cake home and it was delicious as was all of the food. The sweet tea was really good also. If you like delicious home cooked food and great service go and support this black owned business. I will be back any time I visit Corpus Christi.

Tartar sauce made in house is a must!

Wow, what a place.Had the fried chicken and it was outstanding. Partners had a huge fried pork chop, and the beef tips. Both mentioned great flavor. The portion sizes are hearty.Will be back for the turkey special on Thursday's.Highly recommended.
We had a great dinning experience! Mr. Portis actual performed a special song for us! Very nice owner and the serving staff really made us feel like family. There were several very interesting art pieces displayed for sale, and my family purchased a African Mask that was gorgeous! We visited on Thursday, and tried to go back to get more cookies, but then remember that were not open Friday-Sunday. Whenever we are in the area again we will return.

What a hidden gem!!!! This is my new favorite restaurant in Corpus. I had turkey and dressing and fried chicken (I was hungry!). My husband had pork chops. Everything was excellent! And the people are so nice and friendly. It was like being home for Thanksgiving. I felt like we should play dominoes and put on some polka music after we finished eating. ??Update: I have to add to this because it was funny, but not funny. After we finished our meal I walked out and stopped at the restroom before going to the car. My husband met me at the car. I had a parking ticket on my car. I had parallel parked between two other cars so I honestly didn’t realize I was parked in a bus loading zone. I got out of the car to look around and prove to myself I was illegally parked (I was, lol). After I settled that I asked my husband how much the meal was, and he said “I thought you paid”. Omg we both walked out of there without paying for our meal after both of us raved to the owner how much we enjoyed it. It just felt so homey in there, like we were with family. Yes, lol, we went right back in and paid for the meal.
Good food nice spot for lunch just wished the food was a little bit more seasoned.
