We were craving Mexican food so we decided to give this place a try. It had a nice authentic atmosphere, and the food was good, but IMO it was not worth $93 for 2 people (including tip). My chicken fajitas came with 2 flour tortillas, so I asked for 2 more and was charged an addtl 70 cents. The service was "okay" nothing to rave about, since i had to ask for the extra tortillas twice since she forgot to bring them the first time. Giving 4 stars for the tasty food! NOTE: They offer outdoor seating with but we opted to eat indoors since it was too hot outside.
Food was decent 4 out of 5 stars for the food. Service took a long time and the music on the patio was so loud you could not carry on a conversation while it was so warm inside that it was uncomfortable. The shrimp cocktail was great and the drinks were tasty. Just need to tweak the volume and cool the inside area a little more and would be a great place
Husband and I definitely recommend! Our servers Eemo and the manager Marcos we're two of the best in the food industry we've ever met. The drinks were perfection, the food was even better. Definitely love their recommendations, great that the staff knew their menu inside and out. Would come again and again every time we visit corpus. Again huge thank you to the workers because they knew good service and good food.
Beef tostada was excellent and wife enjoyed chicken street tacos. Salsa was served warm. Staff was very attentive. We came on a Sunday evening late in Winter, so restaurant was not busy at all. Live music played outside.
Very good food. Courteous professional staff. Had a minor snafu with a check once and Mario the manager made things right IMMEDIATELY. Be sure and try their giant margarita. Very tasty.
Upon entry we were greeted as one would expect. Swept a dead fly off our table before sitting down. General cleanliness I would say is to a poor standard. Waiter staff friendly enough. Unfortunately I became very I'll soon after eating my enchilada and spent most of the evening very sick. Definitely will not be coming back nor can I recommend this place!

Got the shrimp quesadillas and they were STUFFED with shrimp. I'm talking at least 2 medium shrimp per slice. Very good. Husband got the mimi taco lunch special with beef fajitas and cleaned his plate. I tried the beef and it had delicious chargrilled flavor.
La Playa By the Bay is a big Mexican restaurant by the bay. We generally sit on the covered patio. The food is pretty well priced and always good. We ordered the seafood enchiladas, cheese enchiladas, and cheese quesadillas for the little one. The salsa and chips were warm and delicious too. When we were done we went on a little walk to see the water and the downtown area, it was fun.
Love sitting on the patio when it's nice out! Great food and nice atmosphere!
