Truly amazing food and service. Its like visiting your grandmas house for some truly good home cooked food. The fried pickles are to die for....never had ones like this in my life, perfectly battered and crisp, they must use homemade pickles. Their chicken fried steak is another favorite. I will say that anything I have eaten here has been good. The staff is always friendly as well.
Mother’s Day at noon our family walked into this establishment. The hostess wasn’t helpful. We asked to have a high-chair and she said she would bring one. Five minutes passes by and my toddler begins to start getting fussy and I still have no high chair. So I go grab my own, listing it above the crowds heads as I approach my table.Our server, friendly with exceptional service was absolutely a great experience!Thank you, and great story, Whistle Stop Cafe!
I have been passing by this restaurant for a few years with the good intentions of going and I'm so glad I finally got the chance. The staff was incredibly helpful and kind. I had questions about the cream gravy and without hesitation the cashier offered to let me try it. It was delicious ?. I ordered chicken fried steak, sweet potato fries, and their famous fried green tomatoes for myself and burgers for my kids. My food was good. The fries, steak batter, and tomato batter was great, but the actual steak and tomatoes could use some seasoning. My kids loved their burgers I didn't get the chance to see them before they finished. They also have a bar. I only saw beer, and mimosas. The prices are average, the restaurant is clean and the decor is farmhouse meets industrial. I would definitely go back to try more of what they offer.
A great place for an even better meal. I've been coming here since it opened and before the Covid scare was here at least once or twice a week. Have cut back a little since. All the food I have ever ordered has been great. I love the way they handle special requests like the blackened grilled shrimp and of course the Specials are always good. They serve breakfast all the time. (thumbs up for the Steak and Eggs) Just ask for the breakfast menu. Be sure not to miss the All you can Eat Catfish on Friday and Saturdays. Oops, I almost forgot their home made pies, The staff is great and certainly add to the experience. New staff sometimes take a while to catch on to the caring attitude prevalent throughout. My wife and I were invited to go to lunch here. Even though we live not far from there, I was surprised never to have heard of this restaurant before. We were quite pleased with the affordability and wide selection of food. Not a fancy place, but it was clean. A good experience of a rural Texas diner environment. Food was delicious and my wife liked her burger. The only disappointment was that you basically ran out of dessert (the only reason this is a 4 rating and not a 5). But we plan to come back again to eat and we highly recommend this place to all our family and friends.
This is a really good comfort food kinda place. Staff is awesome, they always make you feel at home. I have only been there a few times but you would think that I had been going there for years. I have tried several different dishes and no disappointments.
This definitely is a decent place for brunch. Breakfast is moderately above average. The flavor could use some slite improvement and honestly Mcdondald has better coffee. If Cracker Barrel and 105 Cafe were married then Whistle stop cafe is the unsuccessfully aborted baby that lives on the other side of the tracks. I ordered the Breakfast Bowl that had unfortunetly poorly seasoned sausage. My Wife and I shared half baked French Toast that apeared great at first glance, but once flipped on its side the French toast was clearly only half submerged in the mix. I genuinely wasn't ditured from revisiting but I think the stress of covid and the obvious lack of staff is definitely effecting the quality control. FYI Waffle house is 1 mile away.
We had an amazing waitress but she couldn’t catch a break! The kitchen made ALL of our food wrong and my sons pancakes were burnt on the outside and raw in the middle. My husband didn’t get his food fixed until I was FINISHED eating. The manager just sat at the bar and did nothing. Didn’t offer to fix anything or talk to us. Thankfully our waitress asked for a discount and we got $2 off…..just a mess of a breakfast and we were really looking forward to this place. Glad our waitress made it at least a bit enjoyable.
