Great food and friendly atmosphere and great service
I really enjoy eating lunch at this restaurant. The Mexican food is authentic to food served in South Texas, but alittle more upscale on its presentation. Prices are a little high, but for the flavor and options north of I-10, it's worth the price. Gave 4 stars because of tonight's experience. The food was amazing, but the staff were lacking. I took my mother there for the first time and they wouldn't sit us where we wanted to sit. Had to be bunched up with other tables having loud parties. Also, my mother is allergic to dairy. The waiter was told that she was allergic to cheese and we requested for it to be omitted from her meal...it was hidden within all of the other ingredients. I'm glad I saw one small piece--she would have had anaphylaxis. I would go for lunch with better staff. I doubt I'll do dinner there again. But remember, the food is amazing!
We arrived at around 3:30 and the place was hopping! We enjoyed the colorful decor and had great service. They may be short staffed because they were so busy they barely slowed down to ask a question and listen to the answer. They brought out chips and the warm roasted tomato salsa and the green (avocado?) salsa…both very good. I had Mama Juanita’s Taco Salad with shredded chicken…it’s really big and heaped with chicken. The chicken is drenched in a sauce which tastes good, but maybe just too much of it. Eventually I was able eat my way down through the the lettuce, tomatoes and guacamole to find the refried beans. Tasty and filling. Don’t remember what Hubs had except that it had a pork tamale and said it had the right balance of meat and masa. Very enjoyable meal!
Went for lunch with a friend. Service was excellent, food was pretty good, bottled beers were nice and cold. The 2 shots of Silver Patron I ordered however were No Bueno. Giving them the benefit of the doubt, it may have been 60% Patron, 40% water. We each had 1 shot, we both tasted the water. I would advise the owner to look in to what's going on with that. That was all it took to ruin it for us. You can't get away with serving $10 watered down top shelf shots, not to us anyway.
I really tried to like the breakfast here but after about 5 or 6 attempts the eggs keep coming over cooked. Doesn't matter if you ask for scrambled, over medium, or over easy, there is only one way cooked here and that is over cooked, burnt. Now I highly recommend lunch or dinner but breakfast is a technique this restaurant has not conquered, just yet.
Absolutely delicious food at reasonable prices. The service was a little slow but it was very busy. Our waiter was nice and made sure we had everything we needed. We will definitely be back!
We arrived during the lunch hour and the place was fairly empty. Service was good however they did take a while before bringing our drinks. Food was okay. I've had better at this location in times past.Friendly wait staff. I give it a 4 because on this visit it wasn't the best service. Clean restrooms.
Family of 5 was a fair price with the meals we had. It was good but not a I got to back again next day good but i will eat there again for the white cheese dip. Yummy. My kids like it as well
