Paolo’s Italian Kitchen in College Station was just what I was looking for when it comes to Italian food. I ordered the Salmon Piccata and loved it. Paolo’s was busy that night so I called and got reservations before. We ordered the steak and arugula flatbread as the appetizer and the truffles for dessert. Strange look to the restaurant, like it was maybe once connected to the Hilton but aside from the look, the food was good!
In town for a work conference so decided to try it out based on the good reviews. The decor was odd. Very dark inside with hardly any decor. Tables had nothing but a black tablecloth on them. It took a bit for us to be greeted by a waiter. I ordered Chicken Alfredo and asked if they could add some broccoli. I assumed there would be an extra charge and I was fine with that. The serving size was rather small for the price. The waiter asked if we wanted cheese on our meal and proceeded to hold it up so high over our plates that he not only provided our meals with cheese, but the table as well. Our table looked like the kids table by the time he was done. I then noticed my meal didn't even have chicken. The waiter takes my plate, brings it back and here we go again with another cheese fiasco to the new plate! ? The Alfredo sauce was like soup. No thickness or consistency to it at all. Each bite splashed new drops to my black shirt and by the time I was done, I myself looked like one of the kids at the kids table! ? We get the check and....$6 for a side of broccoli!! I went and addressed it with the girl at the front. Her response, "well the price is in the menu"....I go sit down, our waiter comes to the table and I address with him. His response.."well the price is in the menu". Then he sends the manager over...his response..."well the price is in the menu". Good lord! Obviously they have received this compliant before because everybody went on auto pilot as if they were reading from a script! My apologies for not verifying the price of a side of broccoli before ordering but my goodness, I along with 90% of most people wouldn't guess it would be the cost of a small appetizer!...?♀️
The best Italian food in town hands down, plus they’re decently priced. I got the calamari fritti for my appetizer, the spaghetti for my entree, and gelato for desert and spent roughly 40$Overall, this is my favorite Italian restaurant in town and its always the first place I recommend to eat here
I was staying in town for work so I found this place next to my hotel. I haven’t had a wonderful meal like this in years- usually somethings amiss when I eat out, but not this time. The entree, Pinot, soup, music (Sinatra), lighting…it was all to my liking. The space was simple, open but clean.Mikey, my server, provided the right amount of attention and was lighthearted enough to make my evening better. The tomato basil soup was so rich and creamy that my taste buds couldn’t believe what I was consuming. I can’t wait to come back.
It was a wonderful time for myself, my girlfriend, and our friend. The food was phenomenal. The only issue I had was, portion size. The chicken parmesan had a nice amount of chicken, but lacked a bit on the spaghetti. I would definitely go again though
Food is good. Atmosphere not so much. For the price I'd prefer to spend my money elsewhere. We went here to celebrate my daughter getting her license after hearing many great things. We got really dressed up and to say we were disappointed is an understatement. The building needs a refresh for sure. As soon as we walked in the smell of mildew hit us and we immediately knew we made a mistake. Our service seemed to be on the level I'd expect from a regular casual restaurant. Our table was extremely wobbly and when I went to fix it, there was already a napkin under there which to me means they knew this table was defective but chose to leave it, while I was investigating the napkin the very helpful bus boy came over and proceeded to place another napkin under the leg, again confirming that they know the table is no good. I had my expensive cocktail spill everywhere because of the table. These issues among a few others really made us scratch our heads as to why so many people rave about this establishment. My suggestion is to go for some ok decent food but don't expect much as far as an experience. Maybe they were just having an off night but that was our experience.
Do not come here if you plan on having a large party. Made a reservation for 17 to celebrate my sisters birthday. Spoke to someone and was told it would not be a problem. Called back to add 4 and was told that unfortunately they only can split the check 4 ways. Highly recommend taking your large party elsewhere.
Delicious pasta reasonably priced. Lasagna the best and my husband and son are expert in lasagna. Service excellent and friendly. Our son had visited in October with his Varsity tennis team and they easily handled group of 40. Try it and enjoy! We will return!!!
Finally a good place in this location! I've lived here for a while and I've seen places come and go at this spot. Paolo's is definitely worth staying for a while. I love Italian food, and this place is definitely legit. It's on the pricier side, but the food is amazing and worth every penny. PLUS, the staff and customer service goes above and beyond! They have treated me very well, and if there's any problem, they always help with a positive attitude, willingness, and a solution (which to me is a mark of an exceptional business.) They even crafted a button for me for their online ordering so there won't be anymore confusion for my alterations! They definitely have my business, and I doubt you'll be disappointed too!
This was our first visit to Paolo's Italian Kitchen and I have to say, it will be the first of many! We had an amazing time here; our waiter, Devon, was outstanding!!!? The food was delicious, truly delicious! The atmosphere is very chill, and the staff is so friendly and I can't stress enough, how wonderful our waiter and our food were, we had such a great time here!❤️ Five Stars all day long!!!?
