Laynes fixed their parking lot, I’m definitely pleased about that, however I feel I have to take my comment about upping their game in regards to the quality of their food. I have been trying to watch my intake of fast food, particularly fried things. When I choose to eat at a place currently, it’s because I crave it. Today wasn’t terrible, but it was completely lack luster. I essentially regret adding it to my midsection as opposed to thinking it was a guilty pleasure. The last few times I have eaten at Laynes, I have found the sauce to be way too peppery. I like spicy food, but you can definitely tell when something has too much of a spice where it ends up ruining the flavor pallet. I have had the same comment made to me by other friends as well…. I think it’s time to give up Laynes for a while. Service was prompt and pleasant. Parking lot was fixed. They need a new sound system for their PA, but the only real fault is the sauce. However, the sauce was the primary reason to eat at Laynes. I always order an extra, and today I dumped it in favor of plain old Catchup.
RIP Layne's.Came back after 3 years or so, very excited. Food has gone downhill. Tastes like high school cafeteria food. It's sad. I loved this place.
Delicious greasy chicken fingers. I would give it 5 stars, but their side dishes are limited to crinkle fries, potato salad, and Texas toast. Service was good.
If you want to eat a college station tradition look no further! Fried chicken tenders, toast, fries and potato salad! Plus the secret sauce!!
Walked in and they looked at and cashier went to the back and waited they kept walking behind the counter but not once they tried to take my order I’m Mexican o guess that’s why they didn’t serve me don’t recommend service here
Not sure if I'm in bad luck or their chicken finger always tastes terrible. Everytime I went there and wished to have a better experience than the last time, it always turned out that the chicken is almost flavorless and lacks of juice, like microwave reheated overcook fried chicken that put in fridge overnight. I def recommend raising cane's nearby, they do really know how to make food delicious!
Layne’s has been a huge favorite of mine in the last 5+ years I have lived in College Station. Each location was always great. Fresh food, friendly service, tons of food for the price. Everything a college kid would want. Today, I was incredibly disappointed. The prices were raised, which given the usual quantity and quality of the food did not bother me. However, the fries, although crispy, tasted like frozen fries fries and were a bit stale. The chicken was dry and lacking any sort of flavor. It seems as though they have changed recipes and possibly food suppliers. Overall, the quality and taste was just not there. I certainly hope this is only a temporary issue and not a permanent change, because this was not the Layne’s everyone knows and loves.
Love their food. A historic landmark in a modern day time. Great place great prices. Monica Lee
