One hour waiting after ordering. They always process doordash orders first then the dine in. Ask for tips even if they don’t provide any service. Will never go there any more. And based on the owner’s review, I don’t think the so-called labor shortage is a current problem. The labor market is well back to the pre Covid level and it just the money thing. All the service a normal restaurant would do is just affording the labor cost premium during this market. I totally have no idea how this kind of restaurant can still alive in the market competition. The taste of the food? The quality of the service? The way dealing with the customers? Just don’t make any sense.
Went to Choi’s around 11:30am because I was craving bulgogi, and ordered a dish of one of the variants(maybe I didn’t realize I ordered a really spicy one, which was fine in and of itself). But also the meat was kind of watery…which I only point out because I was hoping for a sweet flavored grilled version when I went but maybe it was the nature of the dish that didn’t sit well with me. The food was really hot which was great, but the bulgogi was very spicy and it wasn’t too pleasant because of that personally speaking. I’d say I probably just ordered a dish that wasn’t for me at the end of the day, but I’ve had better experiences with tastier bulgogi. However, the main problem was my waitress(the cashier lady), as she never came by to fill my drink or ask how the food was , which I complain about because I went through my water cup quicker than I could eat the dish because of how spicy the food was, which in hindsight was a primary reason the spicy bulgogi was so unpleasant to eat. I only point this out because I was the only customer in the restaurant at the time and it baffles me how she could overlook a customer suffering to work through such a dish. Like I was literally sweating and roughing it out the whole time trying to finish the dish without water to wash down the spiciness . So overall, my experience wasn’t too pleasant in that regard and is why I didn’t rate this restaurant too high. The customer service and attention to customers could use some work. I’d say the food was fine, but if I come again I’ll try to order a different dish that isn’t spicy.Below is a picture of what I ordered. Personally, I Won’t be ordering this again since it wasn’t pleasant for me but maybe it is someone else’s favorite. However, I’d be willing to try another dish that isn’t spicy to change what my first time experience at Choi’s looked like…
best fried tofu I've ever had! their bulgogi is too notch and they even gave us a desert drink called sikhye on the house. definitely will be coming here again soon!
Love their Jeyuk Bokkeum and Japchae entrees! Very tasty and lots of flavor. During COVID, I like that they send a text when the food is ready to pick up. Small business and the workers are super sweet!
This is one of my favorite places to eat! I always get the fried tofu…. It’s hands down the best I’ve ever had and you get a lot for a great price. Plus the staff are the absolute sweetest.
Best fried rice I’ve ever had! Authentic Korean food and such kind staff. Will definitely be back!
It's always been very difficult for me to find a good Asian restaurant in Texas. So many of them only offer a small selections of choices that are actually good. Well I tried the Jajangmyeon, kimchi soup, and bulgogi at Choi's Restaurant. They were all very very delicious! And I don't know if they buy their kimchi or make it, but it's tasty. I don't understand the negative reviews. I encourage you to try them out.
We came here a bit excited because this restaurant had a good reviews. But, we left the place with tremendous disappointments. Very impolite service. We Literally waited for 1 hour and thirty minutes for our food after placing the order. The food was not good. I have no idea how this place has 4.4 stars
This is a mom & pop type restaurant, and the flavor of the dishes is truly Korean 'homemade'. We love the coziness of the place, and we'll be coming back for our favorites of Kimchi Jjigae and Tofu Jjigae!
These mutts love Korean food! So we headed over to Choi's Restaurant, and upon entering we found a table that we liked and sat down. The employees wear masks, and about half of the customers do so too. We had their Lunch Tofu Jjigae and Kimchi Jjigae. Lunch hours are from 11a.m. to 3p.m. It comes with the customary Banchan fixings: fish cake, potatoes, kimchi, mung bean sprouts, and kimchi cucumber. (Which are included in the price of the stews). They were NOT disappointing, and we were still licking our chops when we left the restaurant. We will come back for more! We wish for this establishment to continue serving these delicious stews, and that's why I went nuts taking pics of their menu to show off to Y'ALL that this place is quiet and genuine.
