If you like really good, stick-to-your-ribs eats at a fair price, Then J&J BBQ & Burgers is probably your kind of place! I've eaten here several times, and have always had a great experience. The only item that I've had that doesn't quite make it is the home fries. They aren't BAD, it's just that they lack the flavor of a lot of the home fries I've had in my time on this planet. The staff members are always friendly, helpful and attentive.I'll be back!
Went for the Biscuits & Gravy but they were out! Went too late apparently. Was hoping for a very late breakfast (1:30pm) after a late night. Found out after we got there that you have to get there before 11am if you want biscuits...guess they're popular. As for the meal, we ordered a Brisket Omelet Plate, 2 Sausage and Egg Tacos, 1 Brisket and Egg Taco, and the Chicken Tender plate. First of all, the tacos are massive! One tortilla with enough stuff for 3 tacos. The Brisket Omelet was pretty good but the family reported that the breakfast tacos were ok...huge but just ok. They've had better breakfast tacos at Rudy's, Donut Taco Palace of Round Rock and Taco Cabana. Nobody beats the size of J&J's Tacos though. The refried beans were decent. The fries were underdone...needed a few more minutes in the fryer to give them a nice crisp. My teenage daughter loved the Chicken Tenders with Mac & Cheese. She said both were excellent. Tenders were large fried chicken strips - hot and juicy. Mac & Cheese was not out of the box...home made and not too cheesy. Haven't had their Brisket Plate so I can't really rate them from that perspective. Go if you have hungry folks that like big portions in a down-home counter-serve super casual setting. Feels like the country in the middle of the city.
This place has the best breakfast tacos in town!!! The tacos are huge and the salsa is delicious. I love that they carry the green jalapeño salsa that you find at many Mexican restaurants. You need to get your own salsa at the bar. The place is old and dark but the tacos are good. I used to get the migas all the time but haven't had them in a while.
We've lived in Cedar Park for over a decade, had J&J's fried chicken carry-out a few times early on, and it was wonderful. Hadn't really given this place much of a thought over the last few years and went there tonight to sit down and eat with the family. I should have known by the lack of cars in the parking lot that something was off, but we ordered anyway. What we received was possibly the worst barbecue, chicken fried steak, and sides that I have ever been served in this great state. The five of us literally ate *maybe* four bites of our food, and were done with it. Add to that, the dining room was dated, dim, and dirty. Save yourself the aggravation and go to literally any other barbecue place, food truck, in a strip mall, or even the dumpster out back will likely have better food than this place. I'm headed to find something to actually eat for dinner now that I'm out $70 and I feel like I need a shower.
I went here once years ago with my family. They brought me something I didn’t order then insisted that I did. The server sent the manager over who made it into a big favor he was doing to then bring what I actually ordered. Never went back and never would regardless of the food, which was just okay. Cedar Park has way better options for everything on their menu.
We just received an order from here for the first time. Everything was delicious. The brisket was so tender without being fatty and the sauce has just the right amount of heat. The potato salad and coleslaw were on point. Both had a lot of flavor and the portion sizes generous. We have been looking for a good bbq spot close to us. No need to look further. We will definitely be back!! Great job!
I come in here often with my co-workers for breakfast. The tacos are the size of your head and they taste way better than Torchys! Plus, the prices are fantastic.Give this place a shot!
Nothing fancy here, but the place is certainly comfortable. Breakfast tacos are fabulous! Food is made to order, and the staff is great at getting the order right. I plan to try one of their regular breakfasts soon, after seeing other people being served...and THEY say that the plates are great. BTW ... BBQ here is served and also terrific! Reasonable prices, too.
I work upstairs and was having a sweet craving , i ordered there Banana Pudding Cake and OHHH Boy it was so Delicious. The gentle was very Nice and attend to me quickly .Very Professional and definitely will be bringing my family to eat there
I recently ordered the beef rib plate- 3 ribs, mac n cheese, and mashed potatoes. Firstly, the meat on the ribs was tough and without any seasoning. There were some spots where the meat looked bloody. Secondly, the mashed potatoes, which they added a white gravy without asking was bland with a flat taste. And lastly, the mac n cheese had black specks (no, it was not pepper) and the dish did not have a cheesy taste at all. In fact, the entire meal was horrible and not worth the $21.64 I paid for the meal. I contacted the manager and told him my concern as well as suggested getting a new cook. He said he'd take it under advisement. He did not offer to do anything to personally address my issue or offer to void the bill. My suggestion, DO NOT EAT AT THIS ESTABLISHMENT; SAVE YOUR MONEY!
