I walked in and ordered what I think is a benchmark for a BBQ joint... The Frito Pie. I know most people won't agree. They'll say it's brisket. Not me. Price was a little high. There is a sign painted on the front of the building "we're not cheap with our meat." I did not find that to be true. Hardly any meat and what I did get was not hot, room temperature at best. The worst part is when my wife went to get a refill on her drink and my youngest daughter noticed mold in the ice machine chute. I won't be returning.
I ordered the 1 meat plate with mash potatoes and mac and cheese. Food was bland!!! No flavor whatsoever...Place looked dirty and not inviting.I gave it a 1 star because the manager was understanding and gave us our money back.
The food is five star, but I my experience at this restaurant was not as great as the food. I have celiac disease and cannot consume gluten, so I am very careful to check menus online before going to visit a restaurant for the first time. The Soulman's website states they are willing to take additional steps to ensure safety of customers with GF needs (see statement copy/pasted below my review). They offered to change the block, but since only meat is cut on it, and their meats are all GF, I saw no need. I appreciated the willingness and thanked them. Once my plate was passed to the next two women in line to add toppings and sides was when we had an issue. I asked them to please change their gloves (since they handle both bread and sides that contain gluten), and they looked at one another and smiled with a slight eye roll. Without looking back at me but keeping gazes fixed on each other, the one helping me changed her gloves and didn't say another word. Body language spoke volumes and I could tell they thought I was ridiculous and annoying. They were young, probably around high school/college age, so I let it go... often times the younger the crowd, the least likely they have encountered someone with a severe food allergy/intolerance before. But I find the response incredibly rude and demoralizing. It's hard enough to eat out, so to have someone blow off a disability and laugh at a simple request? It's maddening. If changing your gloves means I am more likely to consume a meal that's safe for me, I am not sure why you are so put out. Friendly reminder: you work in a service industry and all customers aren't one size fits all.I will still recommend this restaurant, since the food was really good and I don't think two employees that ruined my experience would mean a negative experience for someone else. But I hope this review reaches someone at this location that can help to improve their protocol for handling those with food allergies. Trust me, no one with issues like mine enjoys asking for all of these extra steps and precautions to be taken, we already feel like it's annoying and putting you out... so please don't make it worse. A simple "I'm happy to change my gloves", or "Absolutely" would have been kind and taken you no additional time."*While we can't guarantee our food to be gluten free due to the potential for cross contamination, by nature, a lot of our menu items are made with gluten free ingredients. If you, or the person in question, has a severe allergic reaction to gluten, please make the manager aware so they can take additional steps to ensure safety. Please don't hesitate to ask them to change gloves, wash their hands and sanitize their block and knife before cutting the plate."
We ordered the Super Chuck Wagon carry out on March 13, 2022 by phone and told them we would pick it up a 5 pm. They indicated that it would include 2 pounds of meat, brisket, so we wanted sausage also. We did get the sausage and brisket, but it was only a pound of each and we wanted the extra pound of sausage. So, we arrived at 5 pm to pick up our order and discovered they did not have the order written down (that is what they said)! So I had to tell them what was ordered by my wife over the phone earlier. I finally got the order and was paying for it when I asked about the buns which they had not provided...they were out of buns but said they could give me toast which I accepted. Then they said they were also out of pickles! It was about 5:30 pm when I finally walked out of the door!! Not Very Good Service!!!! We will probably NOT go there again!!
Ribs were not very good. Under cooked. Also sad we haven’t seen the ice cream machine come back. ?
Went for fish his past Friday evening would have been better off getting frozen fish sticks also the baked potatoes were old the beans was cold the sliced beef was like leather and the ribs was a couple days old $96 and some change wasted the Greenville location is horrible
We have always come to this location, but our last few visits have been VERY DISAPPOINTING. Each time we go, they are out of fries, they forget part of the order, we have to wait for our online order that is supposed to be ready at a certain time or we get served an old dried up hot link. This will be our last visit to this location.
Last several visits, the ribs were pathetically small and not very tasty. Two, MAYBE 3 bites per rib and way over cooked. They also removed the ice cream cone machine. Going back to Baker’s Ribs
If I could give it 0 stars I would. Worst customer service ever. Went in to pick online order and I was ignored by cashier. After i told them I was there to pick up my order and had to wait another 15 minutes to get food even food was supposed to be ready. After getting my food i checked it and realized they missed part of my order. Went back to let them know and the cashier was being super rude. They gave me what was missing and left. Very disappointed
Me and co-worker ordered food, and I had never had Soulmans bbq, so I was really excited. I got a rib sandwich , and boy was I disappointed. They me 4 ribs, 2 were tender, 2 was hard, and the Texas toast was hard as a brick. But the main reason I was so dissatisfied, is the ribs taste baked and bland, there was not one drop of flavor. That is the main thing I love about good bbq, is the seasoning, and the smoke flavor. These ribs didn’t have either.
