We sat at the bar. The bartender didn't want to wait on us. We asked for a wine list and she didn't bring a list. The bartender never returned to take our order. She sent the manager to receive our order. The manager explained that the were busy although after placing our order she kept popping up behind the bar returning to her cleaning. We did not receive what we ordered. The food was overshadowed by the amount of salt. After explaining this to the bartender ( the manager had left and she was the only service person) the bartender scowled and shrugged like " too bad so sad". There was no offerings to provide us with a food replacement as there were "no provisions for clients special food requests as stated by the manager. The food is overpriced for the value.
The food has always been great but the service used to be hit or miss, However upon my visit last night I noticed all new wait staff and was told they have additional cooks as well. The service was Outstanding!!! The food was incredible!!! Our server Yessenia was the best, it was as though she could read my mind ; She arrived at the table with refills and additional food items before I had to ask. My spouse and I felt like we were dining with family instead of as customer's of an establishment.
We have gone here for years, but the service has changed. I went there last night for "margarita day". Well, they decided to cash in on the margarita day by charging more for the house margarita and ringing it up as a peach snapps. I saw the higher price and the item description on the bill. They wouldn't correct it. Manager said she was told by the owner to charge everyone more for that particular day. I told her all the other Mexican restaurants are offering specials for margarita day and you are charging me more and ringing it up as a different drink? I won't be back.
Went here for my 30th birthday to try something new, it was absolutely amazing! The atmosphere is so relaxed but pretty to look at, the food was super delicious I cleaned my plate and the table side guacamole although It looks pricey is well worth it, we got a half portion but it was plenty. Overall great place we will be coming back to
What an amazing place, if you are local come in for dinner and if you are out of Towner's you Have to give it a go. Why eat at a chain restaurant?
I really loved the food at Zocados. I had salmon a la parilla and to drink I orderd an ice margarita? which was delicious. Staff is very attentive also even if they are very busy. Will return for sure!
Usually this place is good, however, I ordered steak enchiladas with queso on them, with refried beans, to go, and got what you see down below. They gave me no beans, no queso, half a scoop of guacamole, and just a little bit of steak inside. I don't recommend getting to go, and I highly recommend you checking your order, I usually do, but since it's been so good in the past, it just slipped my mind this time. Won't be getting to go anymore anyway.
Update on Zakatos. Seems like the further they go with the covid-19 restrictions the worst this place gets. The quality of service has been dropping as last time we were there actually last two times we were there almost every one of the staff were new.The food quality has tumbled to not good food at all and actually both me and my guest were ill the next day after eating their food the last time we were here. I don't think it was just coincidence.They do keep the place looking very clean and they all stay very busy doing something, just not well trained. The last two waiters we had it was their first day for each of them. ? Probably going to not be going here for a while and see if they can figure out their act and get their food quality back up to how much higher standard. ?️ ? ?
3.5 STARSReally wanted to give this place 5 stars but as a critical critic, hoping they will take a look at their reviews and make some changes. Been coming here for ages, many they were just having a bad day but still hoping they will improve. The evening we went we were debating between this place or Abuleos and decided to come here. There were 3 of us ( 2 adults and a child).We were quickly sat and waiter immediately came over to take our order. The service was phenomenal. Just the quality of food and qty of portion seems to be lacking as discussed in previous reviews.IF you come here, make sure you get the table side guac, its amazing. The man who makes it is passionate and I swear hes been there forever. You can tell him exactly how you want it. Hot, Mild etc. less salt, more of this etc.For dinners we ordered the brisket tacos, the diablo shrimp and a kids meal. The brisket tacos were good. 3 tacos , rice and black beans. Very nice.The diablo shrimp was a complete failure. 6 very small shrimp, cooked and then covered in this thick un-edible sauce that looks like a combination of siraccha and ketchup. Nothing on the item description on the menu says this is going to be hot ( except the name). says its grilled in a garlic sauce. Thank God because of the great staff he noticed this was not eaten. Took it back and just scraped the sauce off and brought it back out. This was a F-The kids meal was a kids meal. Nothing really super exciting about this. If you are over the age of 7 I would recommend not ordering the kids meal going with the adults size due to portion size.Overall DECENT, but not good. Will give this place a rest for a while. Hopefully the owner will take a look at this review and SLOW DOWN. Its not that busy and you can definitely prepare the food a little better.
Excellent atmosphere and vibe, wonderful staff!! Kimberly at the bar is absolutely exceptional! Highly recommended for your Mexican food needs in Carrollton!
