Great Food and fast service!
Great food & service very pleased .
Great food and atmosphere.
Great building in a great location. The Gin is in a 1927 Co-op gin that has been extremely well taken care of and is a great building for a restaurant setting. Service was good, food was okay. They have a great specialty drink menu and the Maple Old Fashioned is highly recommended. On a nice day, would recommend sitting on one of the decks overlooking Nolan Creek.
My wife and I were visiting our friends in Texas and we stopped in at The Gin for lunch on our way back to Georgetown from Waco. Upon arrival, we were immediately seated on the outside patio. Our server, Dewayne came over and took our orders fairly quickly. My wife ordered the Avocado Steak Salad, which included Fresh spring mix topped with diced tomatoes, red onions, cucumbers, black olives, feta cheese and sliced avocado, topped with sliced Mesquite-grilled sirloin, and ranch dressing. I ordered the Ranch Fried Chicken Club sandwich minus the ranch dressing, which included fried chicken tenderloin, smoked bacon, lettuce, tomato, red onion, and swiss cheese on a jalapeño sourdough bun, served with house fries. The food was fantastic and the service was great. Our server made sure our water was always full. If in town, give them a try. Enjoy!
Great atmosphere. Really good service. Cute outdoor seating area! The avocado tacos were very good. Onion rings were super delicious, fluffy not greasy. The Mac and cheese was not very good and my husband was not impressed with the chicken fried steak. But over all, a nice family atmosphere with plenty to choose from on the menu.
Beautiful location unfortunately they were out of several items and food took awhile l (Appitizers were fast). Mac N Cheese was bland, drinks took a long time. Fried Avocado was delicious. I'd give it 1 more shot for dinner but 1st go was so so.
We went on a busy night. We tried to make an early dinner reservation, but we told we wouldn't need one as we were arriving before the typical dinner rush (530). When we arrived the place was full of prom goers. The hostess estimated our wait at 20 minutes. We weren't seated for 50 minutes. No big deal, mistakes happen. We were given menus then left sitting without a drink order or any waitstaff acknowledgement for 40 minutes. Our table wasn't assigned to anyone. Again, no big deal, mistakes happen. The place is emptying out now, so things should get on track. Our drinks come out tepid due to warm glasses or too little ice My husband ordered a draft beer, which they were out of and so he asked for a bottled beet which was another 10 minute wait. Our food came out after a little bit longer than typical wait; my plate was hot but food was cold - room temperature fries. My husband had a chicken breast entree that had a bone in uncooked portion attached to it. It was nasty looking like the chicken lost a battle before they cooked it... The women's room toilets did not flush and had continued to be used resulting in a foul smell. It was abysmal. Will not return. Setting is lovely though, if they close and something else goes in, I will return
This is a good spot to grab a bite to eat. Staff was extremely friendly and took care of us very well. The chicken fried steak was on point. The gravy was way to thick but it still had a good flavor. I would recommend trying them out. Besides when your done eating you can go walk it off with a nice stroll next to the river.
We hadn’t been in two years. Last time we went it was excellent. The long wait time and time to receive the food were expected as they were short staffed. Some menu items being unavailable because of supply issues was expected as well. However, a lot of the food brought out was wrong, some food was cold and the broccoli was barely cooked.
