I came here for dinner tonight, the customer service was alright and so was the food. I bought a popusa, a # 10 Plate, a #7 Chile Relleno and a pineapple Mexican drink (which I would not recommend). The inside of the restaurant looked a little old…. Overall better than fast food. I wouldn’t come here again but definitely good to try. I spent $26 for everything.Solid 2.5/5
The ratings are out dated. It appears that at some point this restaurant served decent food. That is clearly not the case anymore.When we arrived I asked my sister should we go some where else, real Mexican restuarants serve free chips and salsa, so that should have been the giveaway.We went here in hopes of authentic Mexican food. I can say we would have been better off at Taco Bell. The food was cold! The meat in the puposa and burrito was mystery meat. The puposa meat had the consistency of some kind of meat spread. The funny part is when we left and saw the drive thru we laughed ans agreed, that was a sign. We should have went to taco bell
I’ve given this place several chances to redeem themselves and am always left disappointed. Let’s be clear, the food is good, BUT the female owner who works the drive thru and counter acts cold, rude, and unwelcoming…like me and my family are disturbing her when we order. Never smiles or acts cheerful. I was just in there on May 7, 2022 and admittedly ate after 9…they close at 10. This same person may be stretched a little thin…was cleaning the dining room and slamming a long handled dustpan and broom around making a lot a lot of noise when we were trying to eat as if to say “hurry up and get out!”. I love supporting local establishments in the neighborhood, but tonight was the straw that broke the camels back! Your counter sign says “Mi casa es su casa” well…I felt unwanted and unappreciated to be your customer in your house. My family and I won’t be returning.
Their menudo is fantastic, im a menudo fanatic and their menudo is perfect.There tacos are spot on perfection.Pretty fast service, I always go to places in south side that are packed for menudo.El paisa is easy to get in and out no problem.
My husband & I typically enjoy ANY food we get in ANY restaurant, but this was not the case at El Paisa in Bedford. All our lunch items were luke warm at best, the beef on the nachos had no taste at all, the chips were hard/stale & every item on the combo plate deserves a rating of 2 on a scale of 2-10. Sadly, the only good item was our lemon flavored water. This will be our first & last time! Please don't waste your money at this restaurant.
One of the few authentic Mexican food places that I know of. The food seems to be made from scratch and is absolutely delicious. There are dishes they serve here that I'd never heard of.Of course the Mexican food in Mexico is still a step up, but this is about as good as I've had in the US
pick your meat lunch plate is a good deal, can make 5 tacos or more easily, plus beans n rice.
Food is very consistent. Not the most authentic flavors but def worth a try if your in the mood for good Mexican food. I highly suggest their nachos, my kids would rather nachos from here than anywhere else. Personally I show up for the tacos.
One of my new favorite spots! The food was perfect! The tables were a little dirty, but who cares? The beans were so great, I’d eat them sitting on the curb!
This place I would visit occasionally but recently it has started to dwindle. Last visit would be my last as I ordered pastor tacos, took a bite and noticed something was off. After checking the meat color and seasoning realized they used a substitute meat that is labeled "pastor" at Sams..I'd rather the supply be out then replaced or disguised.You come here for "authentic" not something else.
