I had the brisket taco, they loaded it up with brisket and then added all of the fillings! Good price for the selection. Brisket was very tender and had good flavor. I will definitely be back as it was a good value.
I have been a customer there for many years and always got good food. Today they charged me $30 per pound for brisket. That is way too high in my opinion for BBQ. Other places I go charge $18 per pound. In the future I will get my BBQ someplace else.
100% incredibly delicious food. My portion contained beef, pork, sausage and sides. Every mouth-watering bite was tender, flavorful and spicy. Enjoy!
I had not been to Boomtown Barbeque in a long time. I was tried of eatn the same thing over & over so I thought of Boomtown BBQ & I was happy I did. I drove out there got my Taco bomb & I enjoyed my food. It was delicious.
Worst BBQ ever, the meat was so dry I could hardly eat it, hard to so that to smoked chicken but it was. The ribs also very dry and over salted, I thought maybe the green beans would be what saved them but I was way wrong, they were sour! It's like they were made w malted vinegar or something weird I just couldn't even finish a single thing I ordered. Never going back.
I wanted to like Boomtown. I like supporting local businesses. But I have to be honest, this is awful barbecue. This is the kind of barbecue I'd expect to get in one of the states that doesn't have barbecue. I got a sliced brisket sandwich, and none of the fat had been rendered off- or truly even softened- on the brisket. I had to take the slices off of my sandwich, remove the fat, and reassemble my sandwich. Then there's the "barbecue sauce". I'm sorry. I feel like I'm being mean by giving an honest review and that is not my intention. This is not said out of malice or cruelty. But that sauce tastes like straight up apple cider vinegar, brown sugar, and liquid smoke. Maybe a little ketchup, but I don't think so. I love a spicy, vinegary barbecue sauce. But this is very unbalanced and nearly all vinegar. If you have heartburn, take your medication before you come here. This is Texas and there's good barbeque everywhere. I regret to say that this isn't it.
In short, I'd order again here if in the area, but it's definitely not a destination restaurant at this time. The service was outstanding. The brisket was okay with a visible smoke ring, but not much smoke flavor. I think it's probably how they keep it warm throughout the day allowing water to condense and then wash much of the flavor off of it. Wrapping it up and keeping the wrapped brisket warm would protect its flavor and moisture. The brisket did have a thicker than normal fat layer which some may not like such as my wife, but I didn't mind it, and it was on the dry side like it sat in a refrigerator a few days before being warmed up for service today. I think the brisket was acceptable if you have a craving and this restaurant is nearby. We also ordered the sausage which was good. A cheddar option would have been nice. My main complaint is the lack of traditional barbecue sides like dirty rice and traditional potato salad. Their slaw is good (though it appeared to be a few days old) as are their pinto beans which have a nice chili powder flavor to them. Their sauce is very good and even better if you put a little of their pepper sauce in it. If you're in the area, I think you'll be satisfied with your experience here, but I wouldn't make a special trip.
Great food, great service, definitely going backChopped brisket, pulled pork, jalapeno sausage, Mac n cheese, potato salad, all great
The Taco Bombs are SO GOOD!! 10/10 recommend
I don't know what happened to this place over the last two and a half years, but what I got today was inedible. The brisket was cold, flavorless, and chewy with uncooked gristle. The green beans were sour and tasted like vinegar. The cheesy potatoes were the same as before, but you'd be hard pressed to mess those up.It's a shame, since I used to eat here a lot before I moved, and was looking forward to it while back in town visiting family. Hopefully it was an outlier from third string staff working during the holidays.EDIT: Oh, and it was a bit overpriced. It was around 30 bucks for two people with a small side each. I've gotten more BBQ for less money in Dallas that knocks this place place outta the water on its best day.
