Totally delicious! We had catfish, gumbo, burgers and Mom’s Famous Banana Pudding. Can’t wait to go back to try Shrimp tacos, which was highly recommended. If you haven’t tried this place, you need to treat yourself!
Don't look at the menu on the website linked to their Google result. It's not updated or correct in any way. So after I couldn't order from that menu, I ordered straight from the Google menu, something I had ordered from another location a few months back, and they're not serving that either. At this point, I have no idea what the Beaumont location serves, and I don't care. Eating elsewhere, thanks for the frustration!!!! Thats just what a customer wants when paying $20 for an entrée
Ordered the gumbo. They informed me that it no longer has crab meat in it. The taste is not as flavorful as it used to be and they only filled the large container half way. The shrimp in the gumbo is so small and it’s not a lot of them. I understand that the cost of food has gone up tremendously. However, I much rather a price increase so they can provide the same great experience and taste they used to over this mop water I just paid for.
Excellent chicken and sausage gumbo! Fish tacos are good too but I really prefer the gumbo. Best you can get from a restaurant, in my opinion.
Dang son !!!! This place has got Louisiana food with Texas size portions!!! The shrimp was swimming 3 hours before I ate it and the jumbo made me want to apply for a job there just to be near it. You Can't find this kind of cooking anywhere else but southeast texas! If I am ever within 100 miles of Beaumont again this place better be open.
It was only after driving all the way home to Sour Lake and taking a bite of a different piece of chicken (raw texture) to start examining my food only to notice nothing but raw chicken on my salad. Bayou Cafe use to be really good but has gone down to terrible over the years. Thanks for salmonella
Bayou Cafe has great seafood. This is what good seafood is supposed to taste like. Delicious spice and flavor. The gumbo with sausage is tasty, and the best in the area. The hush puppies, fried fish, and fries are flavorful like they are supposed to be. Specially when compared to other seafood places. Other seafood places, don't even have this kind of flavorful taste. It has been a long time since I had good seafood. Bayou Cafe has it. The place is kind of hidden on the West side of Beaumont. So, maybe not very many people know it is there. Making it a hidden gem. It is well worth trying the food. Gumbo recommended.
My brother kept telling me how good the food was there and that alot of local celebrities "media" frequent there. He met me there and I ordered jumbo shrimp tacos. My order was awful. The tacos had just chopped up cabbage, green onions, diced tomatoes, small amount of shredded cheese with no kind of salad dressing. Just a dry taco no dipping sauce. My brother was telling me to send it back, but I went on and ate it. I felt like a rabbit. The management is not trying to please everyone that walks in the door. Also, no celebrities walked in while I was there. Go figure.

Did not devein my shrimp, not sure why but I won’t be back. To me that’s part of the basics, customer service & the overall taste of the food earned them the three stars. But if it wasn’t for that 0 stars for the shrimp intestinal tract.
