The bar b cue was pretty good, but not good enough for the price. I ate the pork ribs for $14 and got two sides (potato salad and beans) and a bottled ice tea. The bill was $30.31. I guess the sides and drink were more than the ribs. This price was ridiculous! Beware!

Great brisket with perfect bark…Pork ribs were even better with a almost crunchy sweet and salty bark! Really excellent meats …had the cilantro slaw was a great pair with the beef!

Took a little drive over to Beaumont today to check out one of the new top 50 Texas Monthly BBQ spots with my beautiful bride.1701 Barbecue has some great smoked meats!Lean brisket that eats as tender and juicy as a slice of fatty with a crusty bark that had a seemingly balanced flavor profile, not too much salt, not too much pepper and pretty much melted in your mouth.Ribs were terrific. Bite clean from the bone without being mush with great texture and a slight, sweet barkish glaze that was almost a porky dessert.I should have got a rack to take home!Sausage!I got both the jalapeno cheddar and the beef.Snappy cased, course ground interior that was seasoned perfectly, I mean the perfect salt in this, and the perfect juicy greasiness!I wish you could buy stuff like that at the supermarket.Last but definitely not least was thatTurkey!Probably the bestTurkey I've had and that is saying something.My wife even said what I was thinking before I could articulate the same sentiment around a mouthful of succulent, well seasoned, perfectly smoked and tender white meat!The sides-Delicious collard greens.A little spicy kick!The brisket beans.Sweet, savory and perfectly cooked.The cilantro slaw!Wish I'd have thought of such a thing!This place is small and food is served cafeteria style culminating in collecting your tray at the cash register before finding a seat if any are available.Being first in line today we had our pick.The staff and the head Pitmaster we're all courteous and nice as could be.They even allowed us inside out of the cold, blustery, wind and rain a little early which was a relief.Overall, since it wasn't a horrible drive, I'll probably be back repeatedly to sample more goodness contained in this small brick building.
Enjoyed our frist experience here. We arrived at 11 and there was already a line but it moved pretty fast. I loved that they had me yes posted way before you got to the pace where you made your order. It gave you time to really consider what you wanted to eat. I ordered the mac and cheese, street corn, a quarter lbs of pork ribs (2 ribs) and quarter lbs of brisket (2 slices) brisket, my friend ordered the same with added side of greens. It was pricey (58.00) but the food was delicious, so it was worth what we paid. Everything is priced individually so you can get as much or little as you want in the choices if meat. The sides were generous portions. The brisket was mouthwatering and full of flavor, and didn't need any sauce at all. The ribs were delicious but not very meaty. Still all in all we were stuffed to the gills with what we got.Enjoyed the friendly banter with other customers and was able to sit and enjoy a great atmosphere. Definitely will return again.No pictures we were to busy eating it ?

Prim beef, turkey, sausage, pepper jack mac & cheese & pit beans. Some of the best BBQ we have had. All the was juicy & very tender. Everything had good flavor. We will be recommending it & going back.
Dang good bbq. The brisket is moist and tender. The beef dinosaur rib was among the best I've ever had. The spicy sausage was just spicy enough but not overpowering. The chicken was smoked perfectly and still moist. Beaumont you done good. Staff were very friendly and helpful
